Milla, h2g2 Operations

... about the anxiety creeping up on me.
I don't know why.
Finished a big project last week, but one part, that I wasn't aware of, doesn't work now. And it's beyond my control.
A child of mine isn't well, and it's beyond my control too. I can support, but can't heal.
Cat won't eat. I don't know why.
I come to work, look at the screen, and can't get moving.
And this lump in the pit of my stomach, and in my throat.

I try to sleep enough. Go to bed at 10, but it's hard to sleep.
Alarm at 7 45, but can't get up until 8.30, on a good day. On weekends, I can sleep 12 hours, and still no energy.

Weepy feelings. But holding back.

Forgetful. Things just drop off my mental do to list. (Just remembered about 4 things I should do...)

No initiative.

Perhaps I should contact the doctor again.

FWR

Please do tell your doctor. Things can creep up and get on top of you, there's nothing wrong in asking for advice or medical help. Hope your kid gets well soon. Cats will eat when they want to! Think it's time you looked after yourself! Xx

Willem

Hello Milla! I'm sorry you feel this way ... it sounds to me like what I have a lot, too, general anxiety along with a dash of depression. It can of course be related to actual life circumstances ... in this case, things you worry about but can't control. And the fact that you can't control them don't make you stop worrying as it would if people were purely rational with no emotions at all ... instead, you feel powerless about much in your life, which is not a nice feeling. Does that sound right to you? Feeling lethargy ... having trouble with initiative, with being pro-active, with forgetting things ... it's your body and mind's way to try to save energy drained from you by the worrying.

Now ... of course go to your doc. Medication might help. But perhaps also try to get someone in your life to help you out with something that needs to be done, to give yourself a breather and time/space to recharge your mental batteries ...
