Summer days in Melbourne

Its been a corker of a summer so far in my beautiful city. The mercury has been lurking well above the 30 degree mark quite a lot recently. The nights have been uncomfortably warm, which doesn't really bother me now that I am doing shift work, except that I now have to try and catch my shut eye during the searing heat of the day. Thats ok. Rather that than the dull dreariness and fierce cold od Scotland, where I spent last Summer. Scotland has taken a particularly bad hammering this year with the most snow in over 15 years, so I am well glad to be back home at this time of year. Incidentally, how's this for a good name for an English pub? "The Basketball Court & Water-Bottle".

Love me, Love my Dish.

Film : The Dish

Subject: Australian involvement in the '69 Lunar Landing (Apollo 11)

Cast : First rate. (Eliza Szonert, hubba hubba splat!)

Director : Rob Sitch.

Pomeranz : Surprised by this one ; a set of 1950's patio furniture, a hat worn by Al Grasby, and a battered old sleeve from an old Master's Apprentices album out of a possible 12.75.

Watson : Excellent, almost cracked it for a tear during this one. With so much crap on at the enemas recently, this is one of the few worthwhile films I have seen for quite some time. See it at your Meryl.

Funbags

Busy times still. Been casually searching for a job that isn't going to bore the very life out of me. Looks like I may end up working at a local bar not far from home which would be convenient. I have always enjoyed working behind the bar before as well. The place is called Finbars (yes one of those tragic Irish pubs) but I get my jollies from calling it Funbags. Actually it has a bit of a reputation as being something of a Grab a Granny joint. A hang out joint for the rich and slightly more mature age group of Brighton multiple divorcees. Always a good laugh though. We'll see what happens. There are a few other decent job offers on the go. I'm told they want me as the 13th man to walk on the moon but I am fiendishly superstitious as anyone who knows me will tell you.

Longing for tedium.

Far too busy today. Aside from the obvious fact that I have time to spend on the net writing in journals. Must be that time of year I suppose. Applying for uni courses, looking for work, getting ready for summer. I recently returned from overseas which provides a handy excuse for the current disorganised state of my affairs. The fact that I have no affairs whatsoever is the worst bit. Anyway things are going not too bad, apart from the usual problems associated with having to re-adapt from the life of a swinging travelling bachelor, to the staid existence of suburban Melbourne family life. But all is well, and as elderly people are often heard to say "if you've got your health, then you've got everything", and "if your only problems are money problems then you have no problems at all", also "there are no pockets in shrouds, so money's only good for spending" rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb........
