November 21 Blue Bins

Wheelie Bins A480278
I think there were a few threads on Askh2g2 about these but maybe I even imagained them. Anyway the latest fad in UK is for Blue Bins for recycling.
When I speak up against it I am then deemed to be some evil spoil-the-planet person when really the reverse is true. I care about my planet . My personal view is that it is big and ugly enough to take care of itself and does just this many a time but I digress.
Anyway, Blue wheelie bins for recycling Glass, Plastics and Metals. Good idea. If they took the lot to the tip and sorted it there. But they spoil it by making the system so complicated people can't cope and what could be popular ends up resented.
Only some kinds of Glass, Plastic and Metals are wanted in the Glass/Metal/Plastics wheelie bins and this varies from area to area. If you fail to swot up correctly on the exact list of which types of which are accepted in your area today the whole bin is left unemptied as a punishment. The answer is you can take the bin to the tip yourself but I don't think they would let it on the bus.

November 19 Orange Hampster
Posted Nov 19, 2011
I have deduced the following from reading posts on h2g2 this week. I do not own any hats.
h2g2 has been sold with italic tools that are the hampster equivalent of a pig in a poke . And an old arthritic pig/cat at that.
Because of this, even with the help of the gnomes to count the h2g2 readers , the new italics are stuggling to make the hampster keep the wheels turning.
So the plan is to recruit a mammoth to help the hampster out but it is not yet trained up. It will be taken to Port Street Beer house until it gets the hang of h2g2 .
We have only 5 years and after that we will all have to use Barlesque whether we like it or not.
I hope that clears things up for any of my readers but I expect you all worked it out for yourselves.

November 18 Lemon Injured

Today Friday 18th November is Children In Need Day in UK. A663518
This is a day when money is raised for children in need. People make cakes and run races and such things. The offical mascot is a yellow teddy bear with bandages on his head.
I personally am not entirely convinced of its merits because in my experience the needy are usually hidden and children are no exception. And some of the causes don't fit my definition of needy.
But it is harmless and some needy children may benefit so overall I think it is a good thing.

November 17 Red Brr

In the UK this week, the news is that fuel bills will be going up yet again more than inflation, more people will be in fuel poverty, but people can get help to make savings, insulation grants are available, and people can switch to a cheaper supplier.
Fuel Bills increasing is true but the others are nonsense.
People are only in fuel poverty if they put the heating on and run up bills, these people then get more sympathy than the people who go without to live within their budgets some of whom don't even have central heating.
People can only get help to make savings if they are already very wasteful and if you made the savings this year what do you do next year. That owl thing that tells you how much electricity you are using is only helpful to people don't already know anything that gets hot or moves costs a lot of money to run.
Insulation (loft and cavity wall insulation) is only helpful to people who have accessible lofts and cavity walls and there is no help for the more difficult cases e.g. making loft access and for solid walls.
If you switch from one supplier to another the other then puts their bills up too so there is no point having the upset.

November 13 Green Good Luck
Posted Nov 13, 2011
Today is the thirteenth of November.
There is a superstition that 13 is unlucky and while the logical Furby knows this is a silly superstition the observant Furby notices that there really does seem to be bad luck with 13.
