Co-founder of Humoristianity

I just discovered Douglas Adams several months ago and am mightily sad it wasn't sooner. I've now read the first four books of the Hitchhiker's series (skipped over number 5 because the reviews made it sound kind of gloomy) and just this morning finished reading The Salmon of Doubt. I'm still sniffling and teary-eyed here. I feel like I've just said the final good-bye to a dear friend. Coming to the end of The Salmon of Doubt, and realizing there'd be no more words written by Adams, was really hard for me. The good news, though, is that I haven't started on the Dirk Gentry books, yet - and I plan to read them very, very slowly.

My actual name is Karen Molenaar Terrell, and I've had some stories published under that name - in Newsweek, the Christian Science Monitor, and Pack and Paddle Magazine - I've also authored a couple books, Blessings: Adventures of a Madcap Christian Scientist, and The Madcap Christian Scientist's Middle Book, and, under the pen name Karen Wingoof, I'm co-author of The Humoristian Chronicles.

I enjoy tromping around in the Great Outdoors (I've made it to the summits of Rainier, Baker, Adams, and Hood in the Pacific Northwest), singing (yes, I'm one of those wedding singers - stop laughing), and photography (I am the featured artist in the spring 2014 edition of The Bellingham Review).

I am also co-founder of The Humoristian Church (est. 2007). These are the tenets:
1) You must be able to laugh at yourself.
2) You must be able to recognize how ludicrous your beliefs might appear to others.
3) You must want nothing but good for everyone, everywhere in the universe.
4) You must have a natural aversion to meetings, committees, and scheduled events (as we will be having none of those).
5) You must enjoy the humor of... (here we had some internal conflict within the faith, but if you're a Jerry Lewis kind of guy, you might want to think about starting your own religion - although we wish you nothing but good).

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
