A little message about GuideML

Post 1

Milla, h2g2 Operations

Hey Rossy, nice to meet you!

I saw your post in the announcement thread, and thought I'd try to help.

---
hey im trying to write an entry using GUIDE ML and whenever i click preview to check my work it then erases the GUIDE and BODY tags so it wont work in the next preview and HEADER and SUBHEADER tags are replaced with h1 and h2 tags anyone know why or how to get around it?

----

When you start an entry, it will be in the "wysiwyg" (What you see is what you get) mode, a rich text format.
It will allow you to use the buttons to add some format to your entry.

Begin by entering some text, and maybe some headers. Save.

If you want to use GuideML, you open the entry for editing again,
Click the GuideML button, and (here's the hook...):

Add some *approved GuideML* code in the entry. Look here A187229 for examples, in the lower part of the right panel.
If you don't add GuideML (the h1 and h2, and p tags are normal html, and don't count) it will remain in rich text/wysiwyg.

Save again.

Next time you edit the entry, it should be in GuideML mode.

Let me know if this helps.

yeah that helps a bit, but the issue i am finding is that when editing in GUIDE ML mode i enter the guide header tags etc and when i click preview and that works but in the editing section the guide is often removed and header changed to h1

Gnomon - time to move on

Sounds like a bug. I was told that it would change the h1 and h2 tags to header and subheader, not the other way around.

yeah it flips them around, and might want to check the removing the guide tag one also as it may just be me

You shouldn't have to put in the guide and body tags, as it will put them in for you automatically when you click Save.
