Last week, Entertainment Weekly got the exclusive interviews announcing that Mythbusters would end after this season. Reading this story was really tough. Sure, I'll miss the show, but that's not what I mean. The article REALLY needed a good proofread. 5 days later and it's still riddled with grammatical errors.

Apologies. Should have expected that really. It's pretty much obligatory if you're in any kind of public service these days.

I was listening to this on the bus last night on my way home from work, and all the way through it one thought was going around my head.

I had some wits do this to me on the motorcycle a while back. I don't know if they were doing it on purpose or I was just an innocent bystander as these two d-bags were showing off to each other. They were running side by side and I couldn't get past them as they kept slowing and revving.

Is there really no law against that? If you were to do that in the UK (whether on purpose or because your engine needs attention) the cops can take you off the road. Seriously. They won't let you drive one ångström further until it gets fixed.

I didn't vote for him, obviously.

Lamar Smith has been vexing scientists, especially Phil Plait (Bad Astronomy) for some time.

Not that the article above is part 4 of a series that I'm sure will continue.
Also, your junior Senator, Ted Cruz, scored 6 out of 100 for science knowledge and he also heads a science committee.

Whenever new regulations - of any kind, not just climate-related - are proposed, the first thing they and their like start to bleat is "This will hurt business" and "This will kill jobs". Well, there were plenty of businesses in Paris last week telling the summit that climate change is, guess what - hurting their business and killing jobs.

Well, they're not wrong. And know what else? Some jobs need to go away. Jobs and industries have gone away since the beginning of the industrial age.
I can understand the desire to keep a job no matter how awful it may be. But coal mining is a job that really needs to go away. What a horrible job yet we all know how hard miners will fight to keep those jobs.

I was cursing up a storm, shouting in my car on the way to work today. I won't link to it so as not to endanger brain cells of others, but NPR's Morning Edition is running an interview with Ted Cruz regarding climate change.

Oh dear. I haven't heard that part of the programme yet. And I probably won't - whenever I hear his voice (and several others such as T. Rump) I either turn the radio off, hit the mute button on the keyboard, or switch to the other preset on my mp3 player (soothing classical music station) until I figure he's not on any more

It's actually a rather brilliant example of weaseling. He rarely answers a direct question, that's typical. But right after making an ad hominem attack claiming scientists are motivated by big politically motivated grants, he accuses Steve Inskeep of an ad hominem attack when he simply suggests that some would say that people like him may be motivated by fossil fuel industry funding.
Here's a link for anyone else who may be feeling a bit masochistic today.
