There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

How about today? My thermostat is showing 77° this morning, and last night was the first for a good few months that I've got into bed rather than onto the bed. Only 3° above average yesterday. I'm actually looking forward to my walk down to the supermarket this morning.

Much nicer this morning. I rolled the windows down for my commute this morning. I would have taken the smiley - biker but I've got some shopping to do on the way home, and I want to run this tank of gas through the car's engine quickly. I've been seeing a "check engine" light. I had teh guy at the auto parts store check the computer error code and he got "knock sensor". I haven't noticed any knocking. I put some gas treatment in the tank, but I'm not overly confident that will fix it. I'll probably be dropping the car off at the mechanic's this weekend or next. I'm hoping it's simply a faulty sensor (or the parts guy read the wrong code).

Fingers crossed.

Yesterday I was able to wait until 2.30pm before I put the a/c on, and then I suspect it was only because I had the oven on to bake a cheesecake.

Back to the 90s next week. Looks like it's going to take more than the usual two cold fronts to sweep away this summer. Maybe that's the new normal smiley - sadface

Camp Mabry reached at least 99° today. In the morning we'll know for certain whether we've extended the latest date for scorchio in Austin by more than a week.

I'd love to tell you what the temperature is right now, or was at 5am, but both the Camp Mabry and the airport appear to have stopped recording around 6pm yesterday. According to one of the local TV station weather pages it's 57°. I think I believe that having just had about half an hour of strong winds outside (still blowing), and looking at the line of rain on the radar. I think the cold front has just passed through. Still 82° in here though. For now.

A departure from the daily average yesterday of +16°.

A departure from the daily average yesterday of -8°. It would have been an awful lot more if the front had arrived before midnight. Our post-front maximum yesterday was a mere 59°, so I reckon our departure from the daily average would be -19.5° in that instance.

Friday, we got 0.70 inches of rain at the house. I got a message as I was driving to the ren fest, that we had some sort of leak at work and water got into my office. When I get back to work on Tuesday, I'll find out how bad it is. I don't know if it was rain water or plumbing.

It's dark at 7am now. As much as I dislike going home in the dark, I dislike getting up and going to work in the dark even more. It can't be too long until the clocks go back. I'm ready for it.

It was the water main for our building. Fortunately, no major damage in my work area. Everything seems to have been cleaned up. Water was just puddled on the floors, no more than 1/2 inch.

No drinking water in the building yet out of concerns about hygiene.

It's that roller coaster time here in Texas again. So warm you can sleep on top of the bed one night; so cold one night later you need a duvet; and a few nights later back to sleeping on top of the bed. Tonight might be both because it's going to be in the low 90s today, then a cold front is due to arrive around midnight smiley - online2long

I've just got back from my regular Tuesday morning walk to the supermarket and back. I'm as sweaty as if it was August. We currently have 81° and 72% humidity, with a heat index of 85. According to the NWS, Houston has a temperature of 83 with 79% and a heat index of 91.

Ooh! Speaking of the NWS, John Oliver took a look at how the Trump administration is trying to put the former CEO of Accuweather in charge of the National Weather Service (because of course he is) and how bad that would be.

AAAND... it's busted again. I played human sand bag and kept the water from coming down the hall toward my area. That saved a lot of problems for a few of us.

Anyway, not weather related so I'll say no more here about it.
