I did notice high percentage chances of rain early next week on my mobile WeatherUnderground app. That would explain it.

We've got almost the same pattern for the coming seven days as we had exactly a week ago.

Last week:
Today: 69/47
Friday: 73/61
Saturday: 81/62
Sunday: 75/50 (20% chance of storms)
Monday: 55/41 (40% chance of rain)
Tuesday: 51/40 (60% chance of rain)
Wednesday: 59/41 (10% chance of rain)

Today:
Today: 69/49
Friday: 75/56
Saturday: 85/60
Sunday: 80/62 (40% chance of storms)
Monday: 74/55 (70% chance of storms)
Tuesday: 75/52 (30% chance of rain)
Wednesday: 80/53 (10% chance of rain)

The only difference is that it's not going to be cold at the beginning of next week, especially on Wednesday which is when I usually spend the day in the kitchen smiley - flustered Yesterday was wonderful. I actually had a fire going in the morning, probably the only time I'll use the fireplace this winter.

Just a reminder - the average for this time of the year is 65°/45°, which is almost exactly what we saw yesterday (65°/43°).

There are some impressive looking storms, complete with severe thunderstorm warnings, coming together out to the west. No doubt they'll hit us during the night smiley - rolleyes

For the record...

Sunday: 78/61 (80% chance of storms)
Monday: 73/53 (40% chance of storms)
Tuesday: 78/5 (20% chance of rain)
Wednesday: 82/54
Thursday: 82/54
Friday: 76/50
Saturday: 69/49

More 80°+ days. I hope this isn't a portent for the summer. I couldn't go through another 2011, especially now I work in a place with no a/c.

Goodness, that was a bit scary smiley - yikes

The storms hit us around midnight, but they pounded San Antonio an hour or two earlier and put a tornado down in an area called Alamo Heights (not actually near the Alamo itself) which is full of hipster bars and cafés. There was also a reported tornado a little to the north east of Austin but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

There wasn't actually a whole lot of rain - only 1" to 2" - but there was plenty of lightning and some strong winds that blew a freight train off the tracks! Blimey.

I believe you got the same system of rain this morning BG, albeit without the severe aspect.

It's nice and cool this morning - currently 60° smiley - biggrin

It came in later and less intense than expected. It started raining after 9:00a and hasn't really stopped all day, but has been mostly light.

Here's an awesome tool. I'm sure everyone here will appreciate it. It will show the chart for the selected city of just how hot this year was (the third hottest year in a row).

Apparently it's *that* time of the year again. The time when the oak tree above my balcony sheds it leaves all over my plants smiley - cross It seems to have come earlier than usual this year - wasn't expecting that until March.
