Fog

Sorry, that was a bit of a blunt post.

It's very foggy here, just after 9am. The TV weatherman says the fog is lifting and if I look out of my window I will see the sun breaking through. Nope, it's just foggy!

It's now 5pm and we have some afternoon sun

The fog went away around midday, I think.

I rather like fog. It seems to muffle sounds somewhat and makes the world just that little bit quieter, which I think is a Good Thing, and it makes (most) motorists slow the down, which is a *very* Good Thing.

I like it when my house feels like it's all alone 'cos you can't see further than a few steps outside

Find it scary to drive in though

Currently 70°F/21°C at 1.30am - perfect weather for walking home from work. And as I walked I noticed that the moon was so bright (full moon on Monday - the Hunter's Moon) that not only could I not see the man in the moon without squinting very hard, I was casting a distinct and clearly defined moonshadow Is there something you're supposed to do when that happens, like make a wish... or dance nekkid in the moonlight?

The rain finally cleared up here. Apparently it's been the rainiest October since they've been keeping track here. After a summer where we literally saw a "trace" of rain the whole season!

right here (in the neighbouring village of) Islip, UK, it's 13'C and dull

Here in Austin it's sunny and 84F/29C. If it stayed there that would be nice, but it's only midday and it's likely to get hotter - 90/32 today, and a degree or two warmer tomorrow And on Wednesday I've got to go and shift boxes at Cheapo in an un-air conditioned metal building

I didn't think you still worked there...

I go in from time to time to help out with shifting stuff to the warehouse. They've never taken me off the payroll so I still get staff discount

Careful with your busted nail BH - cover it up good and proper if you're shifting stuff around at Cheapo.

This is very annoying. Third week in October and I've had to switch the bloody a/c on again And it's going to be even warmer tomorrow

Rain

One of the many things I'll never get used about living in this climate is this:

It's warm (hot, even) and it's sunny - that's summer weather to me. Summer means long evenings when the sun doesn't go down until late and it stays light until after 9pm. So when the weather is as hot and sunny as it can be at this time of the year but it's getting dark by 7pm I get all confused

We had thunder storms and lots of rain as I was driving around yesterday afternoon. Got home and put the heating on.
