Do you really believe what your mirror
shows you, opticalillusion? smiley - winkeye

My mirror has been lying to me for years.
For one thing, it shows me something slightly
different every day. Over the decades, it has
added gray (and recently white) to my hair,
and inches to my waist. Now, how accurate
can that be? smiley - smiley

Lady Scott

Reminds me of a story an old lady tells about this very rude intruder who has been hanging around her for the last several years... I don't remember all of it, but here's the gist of it:

This intruder is considerably older than the lady telling the story, and insists on standing in front of the mirror every time she tries to see herself in it. The rude intruder also has gray hair, weighs a lot more than the person telling the story, and has lots of wrinkles. (she knows all this because *she* certainly doesn't have any of those problems, but every time she looks in the mirror, there they are, so it must be the intruder standing in her waysmiley - winkeye) The intruder has also been known to shrink all her clothes, blur all the writing in her books, newspapers and magazines, hide her glasses and other various items around the house, and turn the volume down way too low on the TV and radio.

I'm sure there was more to it, but I don't remember it now... She just wanted this rude intruder to leave her alone, quit getting in the way every time she tried to do anything and stop messing with her stuff.

Lady Scott, that was excellent! smiley - ok

Some people call those intruders in the mirror
"Mirror Ghouls."

There's one that's started appearing in my mirror, too.
I guess it's hard to get rid of them? smiley - sadface

Gosho - as soon as I saw it was someone from Star Trek, I immediately thought of Jeffries Tubes.

Paul - I looked all over ForwardGarden.com trying to find the original version of that story to link here - it's considerably better than my shortened version... But alas, it doesn't seem to have hit Forward Garden yet...

I *used* to have a copy of it somewhere around here... if I can find it, *I'll* send it to Forward Garden, then provide a link smiley - ok

Does it seem to you like an unusually large number of the living legends are dying this summer?

Oxymorons, Lady Scott. smiley - tongueout

If they're dying, i.e. now dead, then they
aren't *living* legends any more. smiley - winkeye

Gosho, it's a good thing you posted that link.
I was going to pick up my Phillips screwdriver
and try to console it so it didn't grieve too
much over its father's death. smiley - biggrin

Quite right smiley - cry

What a strange show that was. I mean it could never be made in today's political climate, making fun of homosexuals and of Indians all in one go. Yet somehow it was all done with such love.

As for Don himself. Well I didn't realise he was so young, I thought he was about 15 years older than that. I remember reading somewhere - sorry I can't rememeber where - that he had been reduced to selling tapes of his songs on the concourse of Lewisham shopping mall. Him, a tape player, and a box of his tapes at a fiver a go whilst he mimes away to his old hits. All quite tragic smiley - sadface

Don is one of these 'Dropping like flies' of yours that really did make an impression upon me as a youngster, and I'll miss him.
