Welcome to the new H2G2 (or noohootoo as we lovingly call it).
The site is currently undergoing some major changes in appearance as well as having a big 'For Sale' sign in the front garden, so it is a little difficult to know what to tell you.
There are still various bugs which may block your postings, and smileys only work if written in forum code (if they work at all).

I'm sure you'll soon know your way around. From what I can see, you've made a very good start.

I just wish I could stop getting completely lost in the old and new sites and then just stuck and unable to find anything, spouting complete and utter tripe most of the time!

Does this sound normal for a newcomer?

I only had one system to deal with when I joined, so I never felt lost.
I have my PS (with the dna url) bookmarked. This way, I am always in the skin that works when I sign in.

One purpose of the new system was to make things easier for newbies.

If it doesn't work, I guess you'd best stay in the old skin. Just click on 'my space' to return to your PS.

About the quality of your posts: that sounds like an old hand - it's what makes h2g2 so special.

Your very kind Bel I'm afraid I'm learning the hard way with some of the games especially the cryptic ones. But everyone's been very forgiving (so far)

Your right about bookmarking both skins, both have their advantages. I must admit I prefer the old skin to type in, I suppose I've gotten far too used to that size box for typing in from the other Beeb boards

Is it true the Beeb is trying to flog h2g2?

I've seen you've ventured into the Cryptic clues. I never get them (well, I once did), they're way too cryptic for me, I'm afraid. You may like the Printer's Devilry game, too: F2137311?thread=7699285&skip=0&show=20

I'm afraid the Beeb is very serious about selling h2g2.

Typical, I just hope 1. it doesn't happen (Is there a petition?) and 2. if it does happen, everyone has to reregister and the company who buy's isn't just handed everyone's BBC held details.

Ooo could I possibly pick your brains Bel? I 've noticed my ID name here has become doubled up: DireTribe - DireTribe, I only noticed it yesterday after I'd been mucking about with 'My Personal Space' Have I broken something? I'm just plain 'DireTribe' on the other BBC boards still? (sorry you must get sick of daft questions like this)
