Hi my friend,
No it didn't sound like a lecture, it sounded like someone telling me that this is only a fog, just as soon as I get through it there is still a lot of sunshine out there. .
And I agree with you, most of my living is done for today. I have had my depressed day, now I am just looking towards what I can do and where else I can go.
The poem in the study is a love poem from some time ago, and all I have to do is shut my eyes and I can remember why and who I wrote it to. It is close enough to still enjoy the feeling but far enough away to be able to share it with others. Although I am always amazed by the effect it has on those who read it.
I did remember that you went in under my name, but I thought you might have tried, giving your self a name and going in. I am joining a thread on Glomish or something he was a 2/3 god and a thoroughly bad natured chap.
If you don't want to explore the ancient sites thats ok. I just thought you might like to .
See ya soon

Hi Moondancer,
Gosh, I am having a hard time getting anywhere on this site. I have bombed out twice just trying to reply to your message; it is very frustrating. I am so glad you are in better spirits. And hey, I do want to explore the site, and with you, but I can't find my way into the bloody thing. It is impossibly complicated, or I am impossibly stupid, but every time I go in (about ten times so far) it just leads me nowhere, and trying to understand all the directions is brain-frying, and even when I do very little seems to happen. And I catch glimpses of you, or where you have been, but obviously not the full picture, not by a long chalk. I'm sure that virtual Rome and virtual Romans doesn't have to be this difficult. Or do you think that I am better writing about it than virtualling it?
Talk with you later in the day.
PS If you do sell your business, how far away is sale day?

Moondancer Posted Dec 2, 2000
Hi Walter,
At the moment the sale day looks like 15th January, although I would like to closer 23 December and not have to come back.
These people are getting everything their own way, messing us around for 3 months and then sat that they don't want it till after new year.
They are getting it at rock bottom price, and demanding items that are ours and we were trying to use for negotiation. And then insisting on taking another month, which between you and me is another 10 thousand in rent and lease payments.
Well I will have everything I possibly can sold, there will be NO stock it will go and I will remove all my brain work off the computer. Any one who thinks they can go into negotiation with others and believe they can take all the win win and give all the lose lose, might find even the nicest people have trouble leaving without giving at least a little kick back.
It also means we miss our holiday at Batmans Bay after Christmas. But my sister is doing a tour to Tamworth Music Festival, late January so we will go on that. Shut the bloody doors and work out if we have to. We have got to get away it is sending us mad.
Did you see Pandora has joined ancient sites, so when you do finally work out how to get there you will be welcomes :P.
See you soon

Hi Moondancer,
That is a point well taken and I am going to wear any comment that says the Princess takes after her father, or 'tother way round. In case I haven't mentioned it before, this daughter of mine has to be seen to be believed - tall, lithe, incredibly intelligent, lovely nature and beautiful to go with it.
Our computer server was down for three days including the weekend, and then I have basically been in Parliament all week until yesterday. Just went through the oldest messages and tried to catch up, and then h2g2 froze on me, so I said sod it, went home and took the dog for a walk. And in the meantime, my sister, who lives in England, finally got around to installing email, and had sent messages which I had received but couldn't reply to.
Pandora. I haven't heard from her for ages, which is a shame because she is such a refreshing soul. Mind you, I just don't know how a bloke is going to exit Ancient Sites in one piece with you and Pandy roaming the passageways.
By the way, talking of the walk with the dog last evening, we say three pelicans, one of which was the 'baby', which explains now why at first for some time we only saw one, then more recently two, and now three.
I am going to Sydney at the end of the month, just for a few days. My Beloved is involved with the Centenary of Federation celebrations and is sort of on duty up there, so we look like spending New Year in the Harbour City. I haven't been there for eleven years, so I guess the changes may be a surprise. I was supposed to be in Melbourne yesterday (and last week) but someone else had to sub for me on account of me being on Parliamentary duty.
Anyway, except for today and next Monday, the pressure is off - work eases and uni is in recess, so with a bit of luck no-one will come up with anything else that keeps me from writing and chatting to my friends. So tell me, how has your week been? Is your stress level up or down? Are you feeling better now that the decision to get out is closer, or what? Do you know what Santa is going to bring you? When are you coming to Tasmania for a little holiday - it would do you both a lot of good. Take care of yourself, dear friend, and I will talk with you again soon,
Clive

PS Is it just me and my computer? That last message nearly didn't go, it just sat frozen on the screen until timed out - twice - and I was about to give up on it but now it seems to have worked. This site has not been the same since you started writing your erotic and steamy poetry!!

Hi Walter,
I wasn't upset I just missed you and then yesterday I saw that you had talked to all the boys, I did notice that Sho had not had a message in the morning, so when I found the message to Sho I read it. but I didn't make the underhanded remark on her thread, I thought that would not have been nice .
I have not found Pan on Ancient sites yet, so she must be very busy doing other things, I hope she is not sick.
I am working on web building, and I discovered how to link things. I have this cute picture of a koala and I put a link beside it for koala rescue on kangaroo island, I'm thinking I am very clever and looking for a bit of praise .
I would love to come over to tassy for a holiday, have not been there since I was 13 and that was in the dark ages, when they flew fokker
across and they put 6 on each wing. But my sister is doing a tour to Tamworth Country Music Festival. Yayayayaya. leaving on 21st January
5 days after we walk away from the "bloody" shop. And I am going to be on that buss.
Sydney at New Year should be good, they like big productions, and they are very proud of there fireworks displays.
You will make me feel guilty about my steamy poem, I was going to make a link to all my poems few as there are. Now I am starting to worry.
If you get too hassled by The big smoke, you and your beloved can always drop in and have some New Year time with us if you like we would be delighted and another reason to have to pull out another bottle.
Must get and do some work
See ya soon

Hi Moondancer,
I worked strictly down the list on the basis that the longest interval between their posting and me deserved the first answer, except that I messed that up with Wazungu's page, it has been so long since I got in there they must have given up on me. I've sort of settled in to just a few favourite friends to chat with nowadays, you, Sho, Shirps and Gosh, Wazungu and StM, and of course Loonytunes because we banter a lot and it is all good clean fun. I look for history-related stuff, but there doesn't seem to be much coming up in recent times.
That is a lovely offer of yours to break open a bottle in Melbourne, and don't worry Moondancer, it is an offer we will take up if the opportunity presents itself, especially if you are going to become a lady of some leisure in the new year. I had a friend over for dinner the other evening and we got slowly pissed and talked non-stop history, and we don't even particularly like each other's areas of interest!! You and me could do that, while our respective beloveds talk about something of mutual interest to them.
Your poetry is sensationally good, as I have said many times. I like erotic steamy poetry, the point I was making was that your poem was especially evocative, especially good. Nothing porno or tacky about it at all, quite the contrary, but rather incredibly sensual. So don't be getting the collywobbles about it on my account, get out there and link it so that others can enjoy it too. Shirps reckoned you were very talented, and everyone who has looked at the poem you wrote for me which is on my site thinks it is just great (including the historian I got pissed with the other evening, who made particular mention of it).
Talk with you soon,
Walter

I have just popped in here while I am suppose to be re-doing the menu for the Turkish Restaurant. So I grabbed a cup of tea and open h2g2
I really enjoy reading looney when he gets himself wound up, he can put a very particular slant on life. I don't have a very big circle of people I converse with on here and last week Sho was the only one around talking to me. So I didn't spend much time on here.
I have a friend in America who is getting a telescope for Christmas (his wife made him help her wrap it up and won't give it to him yet). Anyway he said I have to stand at the top of Mt Hotham and wave a bottle of read and he will see me. I think I could be at the bottom of Port Phillip Bay and he would see me wave a bottle of red
We are not really a bunch of soaks but my sister and my husband have bought a case of champagne between them, and April goes on tour on the 28th. So that gives 4 good solid drinking days at 3 bottles a day, talk about sour heads.
Got to get back to Falafel's, Kebabs and eggplant dip. mmmmmmm hahahah

Hi Moondancer,
The case of bubbly sounds just right. I love the stuff, the only drawback is that it is about the only grog that leaves me with a headache next morning. And if I really hop into the stuff, it is a blistering headache, you know, the six to eight panadols in four hours type. The thing I most like about champers is that I have never seen anyone get angry or violent or sad drinking it, where with other booze that sometimes happens. Mind you, I've certainly seen people get sick with champers.
How come you are writing menus - is this part of your business activities at the shop? We quite like Turkish food although there is only one decent Turkish restaurant in Hobart and it is very hard to get into unless you book several days in advance.
Well, shortly off home. The weather is overcast, in fact it looks a bit threatening, so maybe the glorious spell of sunny days we have enjoyed is coming to an end. I don't mind, there is nearly as much work to do indoors as out, it is just that is so much better being outside in summer. I hope you have a good weekend and remember to take good care of yourself, and I promise my first message will be to you on Monday - sooner if I happen to drop by at the weekend.
Walter.

Hi Walter,
I am very pleased to here that I will be first message . I usually start with the one at the top and work down. But then we all have our ways .
I am exhausted, two Chrissy parties this weekend, that brings to an end all parties that are work related all the rest are family and friends.
We got home on Saturday and found the son had decorated his(our) house with lights all over and he has a large plastic santa and snowman that light up that he is trying to put on the roof.
I would say it keeps him out of trouble except he went for a drive Thursday night and hit a kangaroo. Made a mess of his new car. Nothing to what it did to the 'roo.
Menu writing, is one of the job descriptions I have worked hard at cultivating. My shop is in Bridge Road Richmond, a very much better restaurant area than those streets in Carlton that only have Greek and Italian. We have 20 different nationalities of restaurant here and every one needs a menu printed and re printed a few times a year. I do not have them all but I probably do about half a dozen. And once I have it on file it is easy work. Sometimes the typing is rather difficult though, when I am trying to read it in different languages and finding the strange letters with the correct hooks and swirls.
That is one thing I will miss, we have made a habit of going out to eat at least once a week. Mind you more often then not I am working back to 8.00pm or later and I really didn't want to start cooking then, even if I did only have to go upstairs to do it.
I had better get going have an early night for once.

Hi Moondancer,
see, I usually keep my promises unless I don't.
My daughter used to live in Richmond - I can't recall the name of the street, but it ran more or less parallel with the railway line, on the other side from the main shopping drag, and at the end of this rather narrow and not too long street was a noisy pub. I quite liked the suburb, as far as inner-city suburbs go. She is now at Brunswick where her and her man have just bought a house. Anyway, the point of that is Imight have read one of your menus!! And if I haven't, it would be a living certainty that the Princess has. She arrived in Hobart on Sunday, and we spent a long afternoon and evening just talking and walking and playing with the dog and eating and drinking. I have only just dropped her off at where she has meetings this morning, and will take her to the airport later this afternoon.
We had Bran the Explorer over on Saturday for lunch, but for most of the day I was in the garden, which included digging a new flower bed in rock-hard, dry clay. Haven't had any Christmas parties - I think I missed four last week, and there are a few on this week but I will give them the old go by as well. On Friday it is the Classics Department picnic at the Waterworks Reserve, and I shall go to that.
Talk with you later,
Walter

Hi Walter,
I am glad you had a good weekend with your daughter, when families grow up it is harder to have good time with them.
Not that I know anything about children moving away. Mine are both still living at home. Although I only see my youngest Andrew at the weekends. He informs me that he is going to dig up my good bulb garden and turn it into a water feature, I said "that should be nice" grimes. He said "good because I was going to do it anyway". I later reminded him that we buried his cat in that garden 12 months age. I'm not sure how he felt about that, I would not want to be digging in the garden and find my buried cat. Especially since he could not do the burying anyway I had to. That is why it is buried in such soft soil. I still don't want to stifle his enthusiasm to work in the garden.
I showed my auntie my Ancient site pages, I skipped over the erotic poem too fast for her to read it. Anyway she sent me this little poem I don't know where she got it from.
The sun gives us light,
but the moon provides inspiration.
If you look at the sun without shielding your eyes,
you will go bind.
If you look at the moon without covering your eyes,
you will become a poet.
Have a great week, see ya soon
and a bunch for your beloved
and for your princess also

Hi Moondancer,
Thank you so much, the roses for the Princess and the Beloved will be most appreciated. I dropped the Princess off at the airport about an hour ago, so am feeling glum already.
If you look at the moon without shielding your eyes you will become a poet. Or an incurable romantic.
I must rush to a late afternoon meeting, which will go nowhere but people love to have them, meetings that is. I hate them, and usually play up one way or the other, mostly because no amount of meetings are likely to change my mind on anything. They may change the way that I will act, but not what I think. I had the last meeting in a room with a table and no chairs. Everyone thought it was another of my twisted attempts at humour, but I said no, we won't need long, no-one is a cripple, let's get on with it. Thirteen minutes later we had discussed and agreed and the meeting was over, the fastest ever according to living memory. What does all that prove, then? Probably no more than we knew already, that I am cantankerous and perverse, and getting worse. Take care,
Walter

Hi Walter,
Sounds like a good meeting, I go to the Lions Club Dinner meetings and wish that I could go home after the dinner and not listen to the waffle, I mean I have already paid for my meal do I need to pay again .
So what is wrong with being an incurable romantic, A certain Pan on Ancient sites was discussing writing in the sky and sent me a moon with a heart carved on it, with his name and mine. Now tell me how could a girl not love that. It just melted me.
I will see you around
I found the faces, so you can sit back and have an or two and relax at the end of the day.

Hi Moondancer,
See, here I am again, trying not to neglect you, even though I have to rush off to another court case which I haven't prepared for and it wouldn't make any difference if I had because there is little to say that would make any difference to the outcome.
Are you a Lion? I used to really like their Christmas cakes, but don't see them around any more.
Must fly, will talk to you later, witnesses permitting.

Hi Walter,
I do appreciate your taking the time to say Hi to me rather than your work .
I am not a lion my husband is, I am not interested in going to the committee meetings, I just go to the dinner meetings and sell the cakes in my shop. Oh and I took the kids to Luna Park for them, but that was for me too . The only committee I was ever on was the school council because I wanted to have a say in what was happening around my children's school. I was there for 6 years and they voted me off for the last year hahahahah.
I could always wrap a cake up for you and send it over as a care package.
I think my trees all fell over
Ancients
Walter of Colne Posted Dec 13, 2000
Hi Moondancer,
Your Christmas trees did fall over, but then so do mine in real life so what is important is the thought. The Christmas pud was a nice touch, and I am not overlooking by any means the hugs and kisses.
Bugger of a case yesterday, I lost my temper with the applicant in an severance pay case. It doesn't do any harm, in fact it probably rattled him and put him off, but it is really unlike me and very unprofessional. It is I think down to the fact that I knew him, and knew what a backstabbing, disloyal little weasel he is and it affected my patience and judgement. And then today I have to front up again to the combined unions for the general pay claim. Is this how people are supposed to spend the run-in to Christmas?
Why did you get voted off the school council? I was never on a council of any kind, just a few committees like the chess club or the cricket club, but I really just made up the numbers and only served because I thought it would increase my chances of being selected to play. I deal quite a lot with schools, and the committees, and teachers and whatnot, and the vast majority are really caring and concerned individuals, but there is no doubt that some of them are in it for vested interests and personal ambitions. Still, I suppose that's life all over.
Hey, I don't think you and me have a lot of time for television watching, but there is super programme on tonight, so my sister says - The Thames - and it is well worth watching if you are able to. I think it is on ABC at 8.30.
Talk with you later. Don't let the customers ply you with Christmas cheer - they either want a discount or ....!
Walter.
