I remember you saying before that it was a bank holiday Monday. Do people in general get together and celebrate Labour Day? And are you celebrating?

As a holiday, Labor Day is very low-key, no hype, no fireworks beyond the millions of barbecues. Traditionally it, with Memorial Day at the end of May, is a book-end for the summer. It was basically created to fill the long holiday-less period between July and November. And we wage-slaves welcome any three-day weekend that comes along.
The tribe are going to enjoy some barbecue today. Halibut, chicken, and London Broil, as well as plenty of .

That sounds delicious!
We are going Indian style today. Chicken curry with rice and naan bread.
I think you guys in the USA have a lot less annual holiday than we do here. People have at least 20 days plus all the bank holidays. The guys I used to work with had between 27 - 31.

Sad but true. Depending upon how we are employed, we can expect between six and ten paid holidays. When I worked as a contractor employee (the real wage slaves), I was paid for six, and working for the state University system, I reckon ten. Only recently, Martin Luther King day in January was established as a day off from work. Some folks take a holiday Columbus Day in October, but it's not widespread.
I personally am in favour of adding the pagan holidays to the calendar.

We like chicken curry as well, but probably do not do it up correctly.

The best curry I've ever had was in India. I mean it was sensational! But I can't always travel quite that far for one. If you'd like me 2 - I'll send you a nice recipe at some point. Do you like it medium, hot or super hot?
I'll have you making yorkshire puddings next if you're not careful.

I certainly don't mind expanding my epicurean horizons...as long as my waistline doesn't expand with them
I draw the line at 'hot', anything beyond causes a degree of digestive discomfort.
I have some 'authentic' bangers in the freezer as well.

[persistent server-overload message]
We here have a good time with the names: bangers and mash, bubble and squeak, things like that

I like bubble & squeak. I had that that the other day - with would you believe bangers!
I received that message 3 times, 3 times, 3 times. I think the server is playing up. It could be because they were carrying out maintenance work on the site earlier this morning.

[Seems better now...]
sorry about the multi-post.
Mexican food - tortillas, meat, cheese and vegetables prepared in any possible configuration. Consistently good.

I would like to try one or two of your favourite traditional recipes.
I don't know about that Haggis, but that's...from Scotland. (I can never figure out whether I should use 'Scotch', 'Scots', 'Scottish'...???)
Mr Robert Burns seems to have enjoyed it immensely, though.

You are making me feel hungry....
I have an idea, it's not a good one, but it is an idea. We could run a seperate thread to this one, and create our own story. We would post exactly 5 words on each posting - and we would have to wait for the other person to respond before we posted on it again. We could just post as and when we felt like it.
You might think this is a mad idea, so please say if you do. I don't mind, but just thought it would be fun.

They could be used - and would not count as words.
We could call it something like Zantief's & Flame's 5 word game. Or do you have any other ideas?
On the first posting we explain the object and rules of the game. And then if anyone else wanted to join in they could, and they would be aware of the rules as well. Each posting must be exactly 5 words. I'm telling you all this in the hope you'll set it all up...pretty please?

Xantief Posted Sep 5, 2005
Sure.
1. We are building a story.
2. Five words at a time.
3. As properly constructed sentence fragments.
4. Punctuation does not count.
Does that work? I'll open a new thread.

Great, you could add it must be 'exactly' 5 words, no more, or no less.
And about the which do not count. Anything else you can think of?
