Hello nbb I've been given your Hammer Throw Entry to sub-edit. The edited version is at A87743929. It would be helpful if you could pop over and subscribe to that version.

I've made a few changes, mostly subtle, to improve the overall flow and readability, and added a few links.

There are however still a couple of places where I'm not happy:

1. In the opening paragraph <> That use of the word 'play' doesn't seem quite right. I would normally have just changed it to 'compete' but given the light-hearted voice of this Entry, I wonder whether something like 'take-up' or 'sustain' or 'contest' would be more appropriate. What do you think?

2. In the 'Method' section: <> I didn't really understand this sentence. Any two things (in this case the athlete and the hammer) are always in line with each other.

3. In the 'History' section: <> Again I didn't really understand this. Could you reword it to make to clearer.

I'd be grateful if you could read the Entry through *carefully* to make sure my edits haven't introduced something that's simply wrong or not what you intended.

I'll try to look through the entry as a whole when i get the chance, but i'll handle these points first

1) Take up sounds good to me

2) I mean the following: take this ------I to be the hammer, the athlete should be front on to the end of the hammer -----I

3) The Greeks didn't go in for using the hammer as a thrown weapon like the javelin, although they are likely to have used them when the pesky barbarians got too close and a sword wasn't conveniently to hand.

How are we doing here nbb? I'd like to get this back to the Eds as soon as possible.
