...when I heard h2g2 might be going away. Started reading through some old things... entries I wrote, battles I waged... wow. I can't believe I stumbled upon this wonderful place more than ten years ago.

Ten years is a really long time.

Welcome back, sea. Here's hope this apocalypse, like so many others, passes on like single-sign-on, the orchid invasion, the BBC Takeover and all the others.

I sure hope this is just another bump in the road.

Funny, YK, I was thinking the same thing about myself, reading through old forums. The difference between then and now is shocking.

It's so good to see you all!

The longevity of this site is quite incredible. Gosh, I've been on here a decade...

Idk, I think the guide may have come into being more completely as Wikipedia. It's a little unfortunate, tho, that it's an encyclopedia more than a travel guide, and the style is a little... dry.

I think the difference between The Guide and Wikipedia is that Wikipedia editors frequently want Just The Facts.

At The Guide, we don't really care as much about The Facts. They're important, sure. But we want to know what people's opinions are.

If you ate at a restaurant and got bad service, I want to know that you you got bad service. I don't want to know that critical reception of the service at the restaurant has been poor.
