DD, I enjoyed watching the grand prix with you last weekend.

If you are using this site to improve your level of word recognition then please disregard anything I have written. I'm constantly getting ribbed for my bad spelling and I don't have the same problems with letters as you do. I do however transpose numbers with alarming regularity (somehow I passed A level maths but it takes me 3 attempts to dial a phone number and it took me years to realise why I thought that the indexes of so many books were wrong). Most comments made to you, or me, or many others are just cheep shots made by people who don't have anything intelligent to say or are losing an argument. Try not to take it personally. Well done for telling those close to you about your sexual orientation, it must have been one of the hardest things you've ever done. I hope they reacted well. If not I'm sure that they will in time.

I've been rooting for DD & J from the beginning, don't give up now.

i don't know about amy (?) but Lil is a good person after all is said and done- a little stiff at first (forgive me, Lil) but once you understand her, she's one of those people you are glad you know...

just never let anyone on here intimidate you. no matter WHAT interpretation you put on the Guide, individuality is the grease that keeps the gears turning!!

I came here to talk to sea (which I will get to in a minute), but came across DD's original post to this thread. DD - I never knew you were dislexic! I always thought your spelling was one of those funny quirks that all intellegent people seem to have. So if I ever ribbed you about it, it was meant in good fun and now that I know it is something that you can't help, I feel terrible. I'm sorry for any comments I have made in the past about your spelling. You can be sure that I will not make any in the future.

On the whole, this election has been fun, but I too have been disheartened at times. I think the main problem is that the election sets us up as adversaries. We have to work against our friends, and it is very easy to do something offensive that threatens the friendship. I for one will be very glad when it is over.

sea - I wanted to talk about the kidnapping. It was a good idea and, off the record (lol), the Celery staff was looking forward to playing it out. It wasn't like the two times when others tried to establish that the Celery had been killed - this was something that we could work with and "play" with. It's unfortunate it didn't work out, and even more unfortunate that feelings were hurt. That was mostly what I wanted to talk about - the hurt feellings.

I read the threads yesterday (Sunday) after all of the action had taken place. I think where things went off the rails - where it started to become more acrimonious - was when Amy made the "mentally challenged" comment. I think she was just hamming it up, playing a roll, but it really upset you on a personal level and you went ballistic . After that, in the heat of the moment, you made some rude remarks that were clearly aimed personally. Understandably, you felt you were simply responding in kind. On the other side, they felt that you were attacking without real cause. In the end, everyone was hurt.

The sad part is that all of you - Lil, Amy and you - are good people. In other circumstances you would likely become friends, but because of this election that pits us against each other, and because of a misunderstanding, you 3 now harbour hard feelings towards each other. In our own campaign, we had trouble with Amy at first, but we tried very hard to not take it personally and we are now glad that we did. She really is a nice person and is doing alot of work on the site. And Lil. She has become a personal friend and really is worth knowing. I think if you reread her posts in kidnapping threads you will find that they were reasonable and that she was trying to be helpful.

Anyway, I guess knowing all 3 of you, I was hoping that I could be some sort of bridge, help to heal the hurt feelings. I have always liked you, Lil is a good friend, and I have come to like Amy. You are all good people and it would be a pity if grudges were kept over this.

in dread of actual self-evaluation, i have delayed making the following statements.

i will be the first person to admit that i have a short temper, a rather large ego, and a HIGHLY overdeveloped sense of pride. it gets me in trouble at times. times such as this.

the reason i decided that kidnapping the Celery was an interesting (and fun) idea was this: it could be built upon by other people. and that, i believe, is the purpose of the site. now, killing someone else's character is silly, since you can't actually do it, and it is rather easy to say, "no, i'm not dead" because the other person actually controls the character. but kidnapping allowed the Celery to continue to interact while providing everyone with something to do.

now, yes, i will admit that i left a paper trail, allowing myself to be caught. easily.

and i will also admit that it was all fun and games until the "mentally challenged" comment. like the comment i made to demon drawer, what amy said hit a nerve. i value my intelligence above all else, and take it very seriously when someone calls another person stupid (or any variation thereof). and i will admit, for the sake of arguement, that i was playing down my intelligence in an attempt to prove "innocence".

finally, i will admit that i reacted in a wholly inappropriate manner to the "mentally challenged" comment and i apologize to amy as well as anyone who may have been offended by what i said.

i would like to apologize profusely to amy and lil, and if you are willing to let bygones be bygones, then i would really appreciate it. lil, i mistook your attempt at helpfulness as support for amy, and as a personal attack. i tend to react hastily to- well, everything. so i apologize for taking things personally.

i sincerely hope that the next time i decide to pull such a stunt, it will go over better and without feelings getting hurt.

I am delighted to let bygones be bygones. And I understand how it is to inadvertently offend someone online, and what a heavy meal remorse is.

Funny how everybody brackets me and Amy together! I reckoned pretty early on that Amy and I were meeting head-to-head because we actually have a lot of traits in common. I value her company now and look forward to interacting with her in the future. We are making plans for events after the campaign is over.

I AM sort of stiff, it's true. I'm 52 years old, and a little stiffness is appropriate to my venerable age. At the atelier, I discourage my guests from drinking beer from the bottle. What more can I say!

thank you, that makes me feel a lot better. being a headstrong teenager, humble pie is rather difficult to swallow, and that is why i have been so terribly hostile.

I played the game in character as Amy the Security Ant. I was not offended by your comments although I was a little surprised that you stopped playing so quickly. However, I know other entities were offended by your language and that of your team members. The apology is fine as far as it goes; I will be disappointed if I see any of you using that sort of language again.

As to your intelligence -- had I really doubted it I would not have made that comment. I knew you were capable of pulling the stunt because I knew I had identified the guilty party. Moral of tale: Never pretend to be ignorant, someone might believe you one day.

[Oh, and there's nothing stiff about Lil -- she's a softy really but don't tell anyone. ]

i really do profusely apologize for the language, i have a lot to learn about self-control. and about not taking things personally. blame the stars, blame the upbringing, heck, blame the media for all i care. but i'm far too sensitive, and i'm sorry.

i'm also sorry if i have offended anyone by using the word "heck" because i considered another four-letter word but thought it more inappropriate. if anyone is offended, please do make me a list of acceptable alternatives, because i certainly cannot think of any. *grin* please don't take that seriously either!
