Glad you're back. Your 'Kes' character has been wonderful to my boring and predictable 'Peaceful Earthling'- in fact, he's a gentleman! - you write very well and I've enjoyed your postings a lot!
As for the poor dumb Peaceful:
Please feel free to be unkind to her, ...dump her into the ocean, whatever! I'm not sure what I want to do with her - and not sure my imagination is going to withstand all that stress + internet time
I meet you more often than the others because I'm in South America...
Peace in real life,
Christina

Hi Christina,
Great minds think alike. I just looked up your page, and posted onto the "Kes" conversation. Last week we were strangers on a helicopter, and now we've got 3 conversations going.
You've just answered a question I asked on your page (I think).
We should try to map out a sub-plot. I'm like you, trying to stay in character (and also trying to stay decently polite without boring the audience) is killing my brain ... but it's fun.
Besides, if we do a good job of exciting the audience, the producers won't dare to throw us off the island! We can take advantage of being online at the same time to "force" the story along.
I think there's quite a bit more we can do with the starry-eyed romance. Is it OK with you if we pursue it for a while?
Are you OK with the style I've used so far?
Have you got a story idea, or shall I leap in with one for us to disucss?
Great to hear from you.
BTW, I'm Kes IRL, but nothing like "Kes the Anorak" - I hope !

I apologise for not waiting for your reply. One of the marshalls just posted a romantic, starry night at our camp, and I'm afraid I jumped in with some more "romance". We must try to work out our next actions before the island takes us over!
Timing: When I post this, it will be just after 15:30 hours my local time. Check how that matches with your local time, and let me know the time difference between us. In my timezone, I can be on-line between 08:15 and 17:30 routinely - I could stay online later sometimes, if it helps. How does that match your timing?
Please forgive the latest bit of love-life under the stars!

Nothing to forgive... Just back from a stint of *unspeakable* work
Haven't been to the camp yet, but the people do like to carry our characters here and there... that's fun.
Agreed that if we can discuss our characters activities/thought processes, it might work out.
I was thinking of turning peaceful into a lemur or a pokemon -
... getting the character move through the story IS complicated for - first time I've tried this...
But I've been thinking that love stories are better when thwarted... people like to be sorry for the poor things.
/When I signed up, I told Matthew my character was between 20 and 200, also thinking she could be like that woman in Shangri-la... know it? If she leaves the enchanted country, she turns to dust
/ Unfortunately, I'm not a bit like Peaceful...
Onward to the camp!!!

Yes - your multiple personality thing has potential. I'll have a think. Right now, we've got a bit of real-time action going on on the island. I could end up as dinner for a prehistoric monster. Stand by with the bandages!

Hi Kes
Peaceful Earthling {Keeper of So Many Stories} Posted Aug 7, 2000
- I gave up that multiple personality thing because Vicky - the Nameless was potentially starting to throw aspersions... and I was afraid to offend people, so I cured her [but obviously that might be a sham, or a mistake]...
- Have to log off for now, it's almost 6am here + I worked all day ()almost,... but all night is true...
- will be trying to think of something outrageous for PE to do!
[don't eat the poor birdy-dragon ]
bye for now,

Sleep well, Christina.
I'll post a few ideas for you to consider when you wake.
OK so your 06:00 is my 17:00. We're 13 hours apart.
So my 08:15 becomes your 21:15 - evening - right?
Our best plan is to swap ideas with me sending them about now, and you responding whenever you log on during the day or early evening, then we implement them in the time (your evening, my morning) when we overlap.
Confirm my timings tomorrow - just in case I got it wrong.
Some ideas for you to consider - edit, adopt, reject, whatever - will follow in my next posting from here.
I'll handle you going missing from camp right now - no problem!

This is not as easy as I thought! Coming up with plot ideas is quite tricky!
So far, I've only got 3, and they are quite "small" in scope. See what you can add to them:
1) I like the lemur idea. Maybe we could use it later. If there's going to be a spell when you can't join in, PE can threaten to develop a new personality, and disappear. I can start talking to a lemur, convinced that it's PE, and after a while ... turns out it was PE. Try to think of some things I might tell the lemur that I wouldn't tell PE ..
2) Next romantic interlude - we build the audience up, then let them down - we just wander off for a while - no descriptions - and come back. "You'll never guess where we went ..."?
3) We make a start on the subject of what to do when this is all over. You've got huge intergalactic plans - all I can think of is taking you home to meet my mum. PE could get really stuck into Kes over that, do you think?
Sorry - my brains tired, and it's time for home IRL.
See you (and PE) tomorrow, I hope.
Kes

Me again! Now back on-line.
Sorry about the birdy-dragon - it's fate was decided while I slept.
More thoughts. What you said about thwarted lovers is dead right. We don't need to bring in new plot lines just yet - we can let our current characters evolve into the new situation in various ways. What do you think of any of these:
Each character can do a "stand back and think about what we've done", and balance the good bits of their off-island life against what might happen if they lose some independence. (That would give a chance to bring in some PE history - tantalising glimpses - not much is known about her - you already do that rather well. Not so much scope for the Anorak - I think he would be thinking about "taking PE home to see Mum" and wondering how that would go down at home).
Another dynamic could come from the characters reverting to type - PE the one usually in charge, wondering whether to go with the flow and enjoy the moment, or whether stayoing in charge is more important.
There are also potential tensions between the "responsibilities" of K and PE as a pair, versus their responsibilities to the group\tribe.
Then again, it's been great fun just to improvise, get into interesting situations and then wonder how to get out of them (or not).
See you,
Kes

Hi, just logged on and saw all your replies, will have to read them at leisure - but really appreciated your ideas. If we can do something along one or several of those lines, we've got a good story
Will have to catch up with the plot.
Be posting again here soon,
[not being as smart as Peaceful, this time-zone thing gets me really confused ]

Me too. I usually add X hours, instead of subtracting, or vice versa. Have fun with the plot. As you'll see, the island's been a bit empty for a few hours. I've been running around trying to keep things moving. As long as it stays on the "Top5" board, people will pop in for a look. Last time I checked it was at number 2.
OK see you on the island, then back here later. I'm around for the next two hours.
'Bye for now

Hi Kes
Kes Posted Aug 8, 2000
For your information, Christina, That posting was from Fashion Cat, who was operating not so much as a Marshall, but more as my Guardian Angel (appointed by Archangels, to look after me). As such, she is allowed into my every conversation, and is privy to all secrets i might have thought I had (if you see what I mean).
You get used to it after a while - the effects are always good. When I ask a favour it is usually granted, and my GA has also done things without being asked. Last week she saved me from a lion in the pub cellar, and this week she provided (unprompted) our display of shooting stars.
Probably going off-line soon. Check out the ideas, and let me have some feedback.
Enjoy the island in my absence (but not too much!)

... Angels never "barge" ... /but our little 'scheme' has been revealed
... I confess that "my" "own" Angel is none less than "Big Evil Dan",
but I don't think he'll come looking here , he's always too busy
Hi Kes
Peaceful Earthling {Keeper of So Many Stories} Posted Aug 8, 2000
The shooting stars really have to be used, they're great material.
I'm posting something very silly, [if I manage to fit it in - depends how much has been posted until now]
today's another very busy day here.
Be well + prosper,
both of you

Hi Christina,
Logged on now; on line (on and off) for the next 9 hours.
Read your postings - looks promising. Bumps on the head can develop into all sorts. Happy to play along.
I'll come back a bit later (when my RW gets quieter) and talk a bit.

... If we survive, maybe we can sell all that stuff they're giving us, at Poco
This server thing + a slow connection is really frustrating.
Think the best is to play the writing mainly 'by ear' [loved your esprit d'escalier! ] and keep on with the exchange of ideas...
Peaceful is feeling a very strong urge to morph/transmute [whatever] into a lovely pink lemur, by the way... (I simply can't help it!!!)
See you online, I hope!
Be well,
C
