About me
I have just registered (11 Jan 09). I am a retired male (62), my name is Ted and am interested in the outdoors. I enjoy hillwalking and scrambling. I was recently in Snowdonia where I did Tryfyn from the North ridge and later went up to Scotland to the Glen Coe and Locharber areas. The conditions over 800 metres were excellent although I only did Grade 1 stuff. I live in South Wales near the Brecon Beacons. I walk/climb mostly on my own. I am a registered ML and have passed the Winter Assessment (2000) at Glenmore Lodge which has earned me money, but more imporant has helped me hone my navigation/mountain safety skills and awareness on open and high wilderness areas in the UK and overseas.
Favourite mountains: Matterhorn (not been to the summit yet), El Pico de Orizabo (Mexico), Mout Kenya (Kenya) and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania)
Favourite area: Ladakh, India (the people are wonderful and the topography amazing).
Anyway, my project for 2009 is to discover and complete as many classic scrambles as I can, climb Stok Kangri in Ladakh, India, not fall or break a limb or get lost in the mists (as I often have - its fun finding your exact location again) and be alive for 2010.
