Thanks for the Welcome,
I was wondering why when I check the most resent entries I can't see mine on the list? If you know the answer write me back.
Thank
Dan
And again thank you for the welcome

Hello from me, too. I'm another ACE (and still basking in the novelty of it! Our homepage is http://www.h2g2.com/A214769. Feel free to ask us anything about h2g2 - if we can't answer directly, chances are we'll know someone who can. Your entries may take a day or two to show up on the search engine - it takes a while for them to be recognised, although I don't really know why. Before I let you get on with life, another couple of links. http://www.h2g2.com/A344756 is a quick reference guide to most things h2g2 - well worth checking out. http://www.h2g2.com/F617?thread=57497 is a newcomers welcome thread, which is primarily there to help ease people into this weird and wonderful place. Share and enjoy! :-)

Methinks there is some confusion here, which can be sorted out after you answer a question for me... to which list of pages are you referring?
Hey ACE
The Researcher formally known as Dr St Justin Posted Jun 15, 2000
I'm just guessing that you're referring to the list on the front page. If this is the case, the entries listed here are the entries that have been approved, not just 'ordinary' articles written by researchers. The approved articles are written by sub-editors, based on articles that researchers submit. On the whole, they only change what they have to, and the researchers *always* get credit.
Since you can't actually submit your homepage as an guide article, it won't come up on the front page. However, given a couple of days for the system to pick it up, it *will* appear in the search engine, located at http://www.h2g2.com/search
I hope this answers your query. If not, which list are you looking at?

In fact, I've just searched for your name (using the 'search for a friend' option on the search page), and it listed your page.

"The approved articles are written by sub-editors" - Well, not exactly.
Here's how it works: this page here is your office space, so to speak. You can dress it up however you see fit, but the primary purpose for it is to give you a place to hang up your coat and keep track of all your articles and forums. Everybody has one, and there are over 50,000 people with them to this point. You can scribble in your journals about personal things, or just rant in them about stuff that bugs you, or whatever. Then you've got that button called "Tell H2G2" up in the nav bar. When you want to write an article that you feel is Guide worthy, click on that, and fill it in, then submit it. Sooner or later, your article will land on a sub-editor's desk, and that person will fact-check it, correct the grammar, and surf around to see if anyone else has something written that could add to it. That stuff gets gene spliced together, and goes to an editor, who wrestles with it further until it only says "Mostly Harmless." At that point, it is ready to be delivered to the main page as one of the new entries.
You can find all the details on this sort of thing at the links posted above by Shadow and Justin

No problem... that's what the Aces are paid for. Wait a minute... are any of you guys getting paid? I think we should do something about that...
Hey ACE
The Researcher formally known as Dr St Justin Posted Jun 15, 2000
There's a possibility that the ACE's might be revolting.
How you interpret that statement is entirely up to you
Hey ACE
§hadow Posted Jun 15, 2000
No we don't get paid. This is done on a purely voluntary basis. ::raises an eyebrow at the revolting comment, sniffs once and decides to ignore it.:: X-P~
