Sleepless nights

Well, next entry, and I've got a feeling that these will get smaller and smaller, which disappoints me! This is due to the lack of time that we're experiencing. Everything now is on hold as far as our needs are concerned, as Joe and Zak are numero uno (tiems two!).

It's still as great as I'd hoped. They are smiling loads now and making me feel absolutely wonderful when I come home from work. I get all excited in the car driving back - wondering what sort of a day the three of them have had.

We've had to buy a new washing machine, as the old one that we bought for a fiver was on the blink. When it took us on, it didn't expect to be bombarded with re-usable nappies everynight and so, went on a bit of a strike, as it would stop half way through a programme!

We're also now experiencing the boys being awake much more! They go to sleep well in the evenings but stay awake a lot more during the day - hence they need more attention.

I'd better go now - as they're still awake now.

Dad

Further down the road of Twinship Fatherhood

22-9-2000

Well, the boys hit 7 weeks yesterday, and this week we received the news that they are identical. It's really hitting me now, the work and lack of sleep. I think Teresa is doing very well, and she seems to love it. I, on the other hand, am getting very very tired, and am looking forward to half term now!

Seeing the boys after a day at work is one of the best feelings ever. You've had a whole day of turmoil and now you can get back and see what is really important in life. Just the sight of their faces makes me feel satisfied. More recently, Joseph and Isaac are beginning to smile when I come in from work (with a prompt - "you gonna give me a smile?")

Work is also a worry now. I don't want to spend more time on work than I have to, and this is causing a conflict of interests! Watch this space!

What it's like to be the parent of twins - so far!

Well, it's a month into being twins and I think Im sort of in a good position to say what it has been like so far. Also, the boys could get to read this when they are old enough (if I write it on a piece of paper, it will get lost).

So, here goes. I love it! I love it! It is extremely hard work, especially during the night, when I imagine most dads go back to sleep after the initial interruption. But, because of the two, Joseph and Isaac, I am in the driving seat, having to change the nappies and give the feeds.

I am already beginning to love the interactions with the boys. They gurgle at the right times and know when they want a cuddle. And, as soon as they get the cuddle, they are content again. That is a really satisfying feeling, having them content because of something you did.

I want Joseph and Isaac to know that they have both made our lives incredibly happier, with their arrival. I want them to know that they are completely loved and cherished and I can't wait till they start to learn new things.

In sum, it is the best feeling I have ever experienced, and I feel like the happiest man alive!

Adam - the proud dad.

Added ourselves to H2G2

Well, stumbled here and am surprised by the idea - although it's not new. Great to add our thoughts !
