Roymondo is DJing...

..here

http://92.48.64.200:8008/

I can say this safe in the knowledge that nobody from h2g2 will see or reply to this for at least two hours, by which time I'll be long akip.

This is one of the reasons why I rarely post here.

Still, the tunes are there if you want them.

The BNP, Codnor and some nerves in the belly of Roymondo.

I'm off on a coach of PCS (the Public & Commercial Services union), UAF (Unite Against Fascism) and other activist types tomorrow morning to Codnor, Derbyshire, to protest at the BNP's 'Red, White & Blue Festival.'

After last weekend's aggro in Birmingham (the origin of which I am unsure of: I have only biased reports and the media to go on, neither of which I fully trust), and knowing people who have been assaulted by, and received death threats from, BNP activists, I am a tad nervous but I feel it is important that they know they are *not* representative of the British people.

There will be children at this festival, children being brought up by parents who believe the BNP's lies, parents who disguise
their racism behind 'concern about immigration'. Parents who want all non-white people removed from England.

Maybe our protest will achieve nothing but we have to try.

Assuming the technology works (or, in other words, the phone battery doesn't run out) I'll be tweeting for my union branch from the protest at http://twitter.com/pcs_euston

I've posted this before but I think it was yikesed in the pre-election shenanigans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04QolIvfQEw

That is Nick Griffin explaining the BNP's tactics to a KKK rally. I'm sickened that the BBC didn't show that on Newsnight before they interviewed Griffin a few months back. It would have been interesting to see him try to explain his way out of it.

This is a document (.pdf) about tomorrow's event:

This is my union's website's information about it: http://www.pcs.org.uk/en/campaigns/myvc/stop-the-bnps-nazi-rally/

I don't agree with all the UAF do. For example I think that naming David Copeland (the Soho nailbomber) in anti-BNP campaigns is wrong. The bloke was a nutter and the BNP shouldn't be tarred with his brush by association. The BNP are bad enough for us not to need to resort to raising his name. I thought the egging of Griffin was counterproductive. Also, I know that there are elements within UAF who are not shy of a fight.

Overall the UAF have done good things though. They have united disparate organisations in a common cause, a cause which I will be joining again tomorrow.

Roymondo plugs a trade union campaign.

'Allo. My union branch has started a campaign to help prevent HM Revenue & Customs internal local Estates and Support Services teams being centralised.

We've got a blog (with a link to a petition) here: http://www.pcseuston.wordpress.com

I'd be dead chuffed if any of you would sign the petition.

There's more about our campaign on the PCS union site: http://www.pcs.org.uk/en/news_and_events/pcs_comment/index.cfm/id/E4A3FC5C-084C-4E26-8E1A0D10FA34C819

There's some background here: http://www.pcs.org.uk/en/revenue_and_customs_group/whats_new/ess-restructuring.cfm

Cheers.
