Russia, socioeconomic conditions, toilet paper, crisps & vouchers for toilet paper and crisps
My contributions to the Guide mostly involve music, art, literature, science, science fiction, my opinions about All of these things and None of these things.
My last name is Bavel, which is the Hebrew word for Babylon. My family moved to Israel from Russia, where the family name was Babel, which is Russian for same. I have never put a fish in my ear.
I was born in Carbondale, Illinois, a place to which I have never been or even seen excepting for actually being born there. I hear it's a swinging town. I have been to Israel, four times, but never to Russia. I don't know much about Russia, except that they were friends with the Americans, and then not, and then friends again. I also know that it is a very big place, but not quite as big as it used to be.
Russia has fallen on hard times lately, after moving from a post-communist socio-economic structure to a capitalist one, and has had to resort to selling off its nuclear weapons to third-world countries that are even worse off than they are so that their people can afford to stand around in queues all day to receive toilet paper, crisps, and vouchers for toilet paper and crisps. Linestanding seems to be a very popular activity there. One of the only capital offences in Russia anymore is Linejumping. You don't want to just go around cutting in front of Russians who are just about to receive their vouchers for toilet paper and crisps. This sort of situation actuallty comes up all the time, but is easily remedied by offering generous portions of vodka to the offended party, which are, of course, freely exchangable for toilet paper, crisps, and vouchers for toilet paper and crisps.

This will provide you with interactive information regarding the Arcane Haunted House Co., and Brian David Roberts, a dead artist. These subjects fall into the above sub-category of None of these things.
