Do You Feel Lucky, Punk?

Post 9401

Willem

Cactuscafé, it happened to me a few times ... a hunting trip when I was five or so, which put me off hunting forever, and when I was a teenager a kind of armed resistance movement tried to recruit me, there was a lot of firing of loud guns involved ...

When they recruited you for armed resistance, did you leg it away?

Hullo folks!

What??? Some kind of armed resistance movement tried to recruit you, Willem? Yikes..

And that hunting trip sounds awful..I wonder what animals were being hunted?

All very queasy making. smiley - ill

I love the spotlight previews, paul.

The previews are becoming like a part of the work.

I know, I'll never ever catch up, I'm not a fast or prolific reader at the best of times, plus this is the ever evolving masterwork. smiley - rofl

Also I'm not online so much at the moment.

I love the Spotlights. Perhaps I'll flip to the most recent, then go backwards. I like to read text backwards anyway, sometimes.

smiley - coffee

Overall though, as long as you know that I appreciate your work, and am inspired by your ideas, that's what matters.

Idea Stream

Hope everyone is keeping well, and safe, as we venture into early Autumn.

It's very lovely, the Autumn, the cooler air, the golden sunlight, and the conkers appearing on the Horse Chestnut trees.

smiley - coffee

I'm now thinking about an ever evolving masterwork. smiley - rofl

This is the way, with me, on h2g2. All the spontaneous ideas that grow from our conversations!!

I do love an idea stream.

So now I'm thinking about a book on the shelf of a bookshop, and every morning new pages have mysteriously appeared! Its like a plant, new fragrant blossoms appear overnight ..

RIP Justin Townes Earle, son of Steve Earle. So sad, so young, how destructive are drugs on a sensitive soul..

So what are on the pages of the smiley - book, CC?

Are they poems, or stories, or just reflections on Life, the Universe and Everything?

You could have an evolving book, where someone writes a page, then another person writes the next.

Hi, MVP.

The "book" she means is one that I am writing, a chapter at a time. I call the chapters spotlights, as they are focussed on one character or situaiton in and around a ficitonal town called Crepuscular Meadows ("le crepuscule" means twilight in French. There are few meadows in the town, but I don't mind using poetic license smiley - winkeye).

I write about one spotlight per day (two on some days as the spirit moves me).

I started in July or June, and have done 75 so far. here is a link to numbers 1-18, if you'd like to try reading some of them. I enjoy writing them

Hello everyone! How are things? Why so quiet? I'll report from South Africa. Spring has 'officially' arrived, but the weather is terribly cold with some parts of the country getting snow! My art classes started again, yesterday was the first since April. We've also had a bird watching outing a couple of weeks ago which went great and I even saw two new bird species (for me).

What's everyone else up to?

Hi Willem. Are you teaching an art class? I can't believe you need to study art!

There's nothing exciting going on where I am. I've got a government white paper on planning I'm supposed to read and understand. smiley - yawn

Our fence is covered with ivy, which is flowering and attracting wasps, bees and hornets. I am assured that the European hornet isn't aggressive but I mean to leave them well alone.

Yes! Hullo mvp! Well, yes, my peculiar dream scene was based on the Spotlights, because paul writes new pages daily, heheh.

But I like your idea also of other evolving books. How did these mysterious new pages get there?

An Unseen Author?

An Imaginary Spirit Guide?? Hah! Yes!

The trouble is, in my dream, one would have to expand the shelves of the bookshop. In fact the bookshop would have to turn into a warehouse, to house the growing books.

There might have to be a sort of compressing process, whereby the books would reach a point of haiku, or essence.

Of course my dreams are retro, I fail to bring in digital storage.

I've read many books,
thrillers and classics alike.
Books are friends and guides.

Hullo Willem!

Good to hear your news!

Snow in Spring?? smiley - snowball This reminds me of Mister D's snow videos. The snow at Easter time.

Do you teach the art classes? As mvp says, I can't imagine you learning to draw anything! You can draw the entire universe! heheh.

Two new bird species?? How amazing!

smiley - coffee

It is quiet here right now, I think there's a natural drift from this thread, as folks move towards new creative contexts, and busy lives.

Life is good. I still go on and on, the stream of consciousness flows forever onward. I too am exploring new creative contexts (like, switching off my laptop and going all reclusive in my room. smiley - rofl).

I'm currently crazy about a setting on my synth called Kameleon, and writing stream of dream lyrics.

I've also got into purchasing local fruits from our nearby shops. Last week was all about the plum, this week is the pear. mmmm. smiley - drool Love a local fruit.

So Autumnal now, all golden and russet and wasp.

I've become a Van Morrison fan again, following a documentary on TV a couple of nights ago. I love his spontaneous performances, he takes the stream of mystical Celtic consciousness to sublime levels.

Hornets

Eeek! Watch out for those hornets, mvp!!

What does one say when confronted with a hornet? I'd tend to say erm .. cheerio my buzzy friend. smiley - run

A government white paper on planning? This sounds very impressive! Can I have your autograph please? heheh.

Yes! Books as friends and guides. I love this. The book as a spirit guide. I used to go around book shops subtly holding my hand over the cover, sort of feeling the energy, before I decided if I wanted to read it. A bit flaky I know.

Actually that sounds totally flaky. I think I'm a professional flake. smiley - rofl

Books. smiley - booksmiley - book Yes!

Is a hornet a musical insect?

You're thinking of cornets! Which are either ice cream cones or musical instruments. smiley - musicalnote

Our hornets are yellow and black striped and about three times the size of wasps. But they seem quite happy pottering around on our hedge and don't bother us.

Hornets and cornets

Post 9418

Three times the size of wasps??? smiley - run

How fine is the sound of the cornet
In mellow brass tones it will sing
To try to hear sounds in a hornet
Will lead to an audible sting

An audible sting?? Objection, ye writer of rhymes about listening to giant wasps. One cannot hear a sting. I know I know.

smiley - redwine

Talking of senses, how often does one have a distinct sense of smell in a dream?

The other night I had this dream which ended up at a corner table in a cafe, right beside the kitchens. There was a distinct smell of stale chip fat, like many fried meals had been cooked in there. Eeeurgh. Very distinct though. Quite interesting.

You'd think one could perhaps dream of the scent of jasmine, or perhaps roasting coffee, but chip fat??

I think Paulh is making a joke mvp! Anyways ... no, I don't give art lessons, I attend an art class along with several other artists. I'm still nowhere as good as I want to be!

What?? Willem, about the art classes. So you're still learning about drawing? This is astounding. I am in a state of astoundment.

So much so, I think I'm going to go dip into the evolving masterwork, backwards. smiley - rofl

smiley - redwine

I think there's a vintage instrument called a cornett, as well as a cornet. This could help me, poetically. Or not.

How fine is the sound of the cornett ..
