Enjoy!
When the moon is in the 7th house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars,
Then I am back in high school chorus: the stage is full of paper stars,
And I am banging out 'The Age of Aquarius, Age of Aquarius,
'Aquarius, Aquarius....'
Harmony just will not happen, flat notes and offkeys abounding,
Nobody enjoys rehearsing, golden dreams of television
And a mushroom pizza beckon, it will be okay, we reckon,
Sing 'Aquarius, Aquarius...'
Let the band kids, let the band kids in, the band kids in....

We crossed the Atacama desert on our South American jaunt: mile after mile of rock in shades from pale to red, grey and almost green.
My husband said that, if you wanted to fake pictures of Mars, it would be an ideal place to do so.
Fireflies
cactuscafe Posted Jul 12, 2019
Evening all!!
So are those little dancing lights fireflies then??
I never saw fireflies before!
That's amazing! And the music goes so great with them.
I want to go play my piano to fireflies now. 'Cept we don' t have any. All I have is the memory of the Buzz Electrics van in the carpark.
Hah! Buzz. Fly
Electrics. Light! Lit up! Lit up fly.
Now all I need is some fire. Then I'll be the perfect coincident meme.

Heheh. The perfect Hair tale, and so poetic. And hilarious. And obviously true? And mushroom pizza. And publish it immediately.
I've always been a fan of the Hair sountrack (which will never be the same again now after above account)
Wait.. back inna

Yes, true. We were always singing that medley of 'Aquarius' and 'Let the Sunshine In' back in high school. And I was always pounding the piano for somebody's performance.
You don't have fireflies? We call 'em lightnin' bugs in the South. How odd that you don't have 'em. They're completely harmless. They're around in the daytime, too, only they light up at night with their luciferase. The other day, I heard, 'Hey, you guys! What is this, land on Elektra Gheorgheni day?' They don't bite.
The song is famous...

Yes, always fascinated by Ragni and Rado. (composers)
I love the film version, which apparently they didn't like, though.
Never did see it on the stage.
Last night's production was amazing!
Incredible stage set. The band were in tree houses.
Claude Hooper Bukowski heading for Vietnam was very powerful.
Ain't got no.. then a drum crash for gunfire
Ain't got no.. crash..
Over and over
I'd say the average age of the audience was 75+. Lots of ladies and gents.
Let The Sunshine In !! All delighted to sing along with the tribal love party of scantily clad, (and at one point not clad in anything,) gyrating hippies.
We, meanwhile, were glad to get home for a nice cup of tea.
Did all make me realise how particularly turbulent and edgy were the politics of the USA around that time. I know I know, politics are always turbulent, but with Vietnam and Summer of Love and thats just a small part of it..

How true. Those were the good old days. Except the parts that weren't.
That's why I laugh now at people expecting 'old people' to be conservative, etc. Now, the 80+ generation still are, but wait a few years... Old folks' homes will be full of rock music.
Atacama Mars
cactuscafe Posted Jul 12, 2019
Hullo mvp! That's an amazing description of the Atacama Desert! How did you cross it? Coach? Camel? Jeep?
Good landscape for a mars movie then!

I think we do have fireflies, or glow worms. I've certainly seen them in France, but these produce single lights, which stay still.
Maybe the big swarms are an American phenomenon?

No, we don't have lightnin' bugs. Wah
Elektra Gheorgheni Day??? Happy birthday?! Elektra!! So the fireflies brought you birthday candle light!?
Luciferase. Ah. This could be a clue. Guess who was about to ask 'so how do the lightnin' bugs light up then?' I go find out.

cactuscafe Posted Jul 12, 2019
We do have fireflies? Oh. What kind of environment do they like?

I would like to see this Mars landscape. I hope there are photos.
No, not her birthday - though it could be an 'unbirthday' I guess.
Yeah, MVP, these little Pennsylvania guys don't exactly swarm, but they're numerous, they're out of synch, and they blink on and off like advertising signs. Which they are.
Now, in Southeast Asia, I understand, they congregate in trees and blink in synch. Here, found them!

Here are some well-behaved tourists in the Great Smoky Mountains watching synchronous fireflies there! Photinus carolinus,

I have found out that our fireflies are called Photinus pennsylvanica.
Anyway, no more fireflies, but a video with a bunny in:
