Yes, that's what I mean, but it's not a single branch, it's rather a bundle of longer but rather thin branches/twigs.

(In the UK we call "Christmas dinner" the one on the 25th, so I'd need to footnote it).

yes, the dinner is on the 24th, on Christmas Eve
first there is dinner, then there are presents, or vice versa depending on the patience of the family

Ok, I finally managed to read this.

In the section about Perchten you wrote:
'Schönperchten are well-dressed men wearing extremely high hats which are geometrically-shaped and stood on edge.'

my original sentence was:
' Schönperchten are well dressed men with extremely high hats, shaped like rectangles standing on one corner. '

I think the sentence should be reworded.
