Hallo!

(I went beyond the deviance of saying 'hello!')
Welcome to h2g2! Hope you find at least a few things of interest around here (trust me, it's not that hard smiley - smiley )
I heard from jaz'd that you play a couple of musical instruments. I do as well. Do you play strings? Woodwinds? Percussion?

If you want to bounce something totally random off somebody I am pretty used to such things, too.

I've probably been playing sax three years (not long, i know) and the others have been since then, but I practice regularly.

the song is in three-four time. you can start when they play a chord and count "one-two-three" before they play the next chord. they play the chords and hit the cymbals on the first beat of every measure. the song is in the same style as John Lennon's "God," or at least the Jack's Mannequin version of itsmiley - smiley

I went down south (and out west) to springfield, Missouri, to visit some relatives. we had a good time and i met a woman that my father was good friends with when he was in germany (a good 25 years ago)

Hope you have a great weekend!

OH, and PS...you should look up the Musician's Guild....it's a h2g2 group for music enthusiasts, and in the future they can probably answer your music questions better than i can (not that i mind, certainly).

*waves* see you!

Hallo!

Post 7

Hannah-Music

three years is still a long time (in my mind) and if u practice lots than im sure ur very good at it :D i love the saxophone.

thank you so much for the timing! it was very helpful smiley - biggrin and i love jacks manequin-they are awesome and great live!! john lennon is great too, i watched a movie on his assassination yesterday-that was sad and the guy who killed him was so strange (the movie starred the lead singer of 30 seconds to mars, jared leto. have u heard of that band?)

sounds like ur trip was fun. missouri seems like a nice place smiley - smiley i used to live near portland, oregon but i dont know if ive already told u this - so sorry if i have.

thank you again,
are u getting up to anything interesting this week?
Hannah smiley - smiley

Hallo!

mindchatham

I'm not really very informed about Lennon's assassiniation...it's tragic that such a talented person was taken from the world, though. I have heard of 30 Seconds to Mars, but I've never listened to their music.

Missouri is full of farmland, cows (and other strange livestock: kangaroos, llamas, emus, camels....), and uneducated people. Thus it's rather hard to get by. Towns like Springfield, Dexter/Sikeston, St. Louis, and Columbia are pretty nice, though. If you can't tell already, I prefer larger rather than smaller towns. My hometown only had about 1,000 people in it, so I am sick of that kind of lifesmiley - biggrin My sister used to live in Vancouver (Washington) which is very close to Portland, and we visited her for Christmas in 2001. I really like the area.

I'm glad I could be of some help. This week I'm trying to set my sights on a computer (I need a new one badly and this weekend is tax-free!) and get a physical form for a league I'm entering. Other than that, I'm not doing much. You?

Hallo!

Post 9

Hannah-Music

well it was a very interesting movie and i agree, his death was so tragic.

i like farmland and city life. its good where i am cause most of the time i live an hour from sydney with my mum in a nice, populated town and with my dad i live in the city...

and kangaroos and emus are awesome (our national animals) have u seen a wombat, kookaburra or echidna before? columbia sounds very nice. my parents used to live in boston which also seems lovely. :D

i need a new computer too but im saving money to go to melbourne. and a tennis comp sounds interesting. let me know how it goes. smiley - smiley i cant really play that well...

ive got musical rehearsals all day next week (9-4) to prepare for our opening night which is friday i think smiley - sadface scary because were not ready and i have to play the glockenspiel which i dont know how to do.... smiley - erm anyway, should be alright smiley - smiley

talk to u soon. what are u getting up to now?
nice chatting btw--thanks.
hannah

Hallo!

Post 10

mindchatham

I've seen wombats, yes, but not in this area!

I have a glockenspiel setting on my keyboard smiley - biggrin but I doubt it's the same thing....

I have many friends and some relatives in Boston, and hope to live there myself someday...I like Massachusetts in general, though.

Tennis isn't my forte either, but I'm hoping to improve!

It seems like any time I have some performance coming up that I'm not ready, but I usually do okay. Our spring concert this past year, however, was a flaming train wreck straight out of the black lagoon.smiley - erm....It was bad.

Nice hearing from you too.
MCsmiley - sheep

Hallo!

Post 11

Hannah-Music

lol wombats are cool smiley - smiley

and poor you about the concert lol. thats not good smiley - sadface nice metaphor though smiley - winkeye

I'm going south to Louisiana this week. A week from today I will be in the French Quarter. My, isn't that an exciting thought?

I am writing this from my new computer that I just got set up today, too, so I'm pretty excited.

What's going on with you?

MCsmiley - sheep

Hallo!

Post 15

Hannah-Music

that does sound exciting smiley - smiley only i dont know where the french quarter is.... louisiana sounds nice though. new computer is also exciting! i need a laptop but cant afford one smiley - sadface

our musical, grease, opened on thursday night. had a blackout on friday so that show was cancelled. oh well, apart from that its all going well :D still got 7 more shows to go!

anyway, hope ur having a good week, let me know how the trip to louisiana and the french quarter go...

Hallo!

Post 16

Hannah-Music

hey, ive got a question h2g2 related and was wondering if you could please help (or try and help...) i wrote a journal entry and posted it. it showed me that i had posted it and everything was fine and now its disappeared smiley - sadface i would really like to retrieve it again if that is possible... anyway, thanks smiley - smiley

Hallo!

Post 17

mindchatham

Have you tried clicking "View more journal entries" or something like that? Of course, this is only for Classic Goo...I don't know much about Alabaster or Brunel...That does seem rather odd. Maybe enough time passed that it got buried under newer conversations?smiley - erm

The French Quarter is the part of New Orleans that is really historical and has most of the Mardi Gras/Jazz celebrations and things. It also is on higher ground than the rest of New Orleans, which is one reason Hurricane Katrina didn't hit it as hard as it did the rest of the city.

Ooh, Grease! smiley - biggrin Are you a member of the cast or crew? Have fun either way, though!

MCsmiley - sheep

Hallo!

Post 18

Hannah-Music

thanks for the reply to my journal entry smiley - smiley and yes, some msn conversations can be really good. the entry just reappeared but thanks for helping.

wow, the french quarter sounds really cool! hope u have fun! i really need to go to america again.... so are u going for a festival or something like that?

in grease im in the orchestra playing the cello and thats fun (im the only cellist in the entire school so there is no competition when it comes to things like this which is good)

got to go to our next show now so talk to u later smiley - smiley

Hannah

Hallo!

Post 19

mindchatham

Well right now I'm about 2 hours from the Quarter, which is great.

I have a cousin who plays cello very well. I love the instrument...the Magnetic Fields and the Books use it a lot, which I love. I really like the bowed string instrument sound in general, and I tend to gravitate towards lower-pitched instruments, so cellos rock!smiley - biggrin

glad that journal entry turned up!

MCsmiley - sheep

Hallo!

Post 20

mindchatham

And smiley - tennisball practice starts today! Yay! Also open house for school is today, which is (mostly) exciting.smiley - winkeye

Although that does mean I have to get hot and sweatysmiley - erm....oh well. I'm sure it will be great.

What are you up to? How long are is your school going to be running Grease?
