Dear Pierce the Pirate,
How great to find your name. I have just edited my letter to you and voops it disappeared down the drain.!! I have joined a gr oup where I live called AGE CONCERN. What a wonderful group of ppeople. Most of themn were between the ages of ten and twelve at the outbreak of WW2. All of them are happy enthusiastic welcoming people who have made such a difference to my life. they yhave all welcomed me.
I have actually got much better mentally although physically have diminished both in size and ability to "do" things. However, I am always happy when I wake up in the morning. !!
I do hope that I can reestablish connections with some of my friends. Thank you to those who have taken on the task of keeping h2g2 going.
Go well

Dear Christiane
Nice to here from you again. And nice to learn that you have joined the Age Concern group. My own mother was born in northern Germany in 1929 and she too has joined a society where they talk about how it was to be living in the third Reich. They even printed their taped conversations in a book, which I have yet to read.
I am looking forward to seeing h2g2 moving to its next destination where it hopefully will stay for a long time. Should be any day now.

Hi Pierce the
At last!1
"I think I've got it!
I think I've got it!!!!!"
How wonderful to receive your "mel".(I think that is the word for email in French)) But do you realise that I am old enough to be your Maman!!. In fact I see that your Mother is a year younger that I am
Yet I do not feel old or ancient
Oh well (shrugs shoulders)(wish there was a smileyfor that expression t hat!!,
Are you going to the island of Las Palmas - I think it was - again for a holiday.? The days are getting shorter and shorter. Which is a bore.
My darling youngest brother who lives in New York is coming to see me today. Last week I had the visit of some super French cousins. I think that as I am now the oldest member of my generation still alive, so perhaps they are coming to say goodbye to me. !!! perhaps not, they are only coming to pay me a loving visit.
La grandmere de la famille," and "arriere grandmere" to quite a few of the young. !!
have a good day in your lovely country Denmark. I must have told you that my best friend when I loved in Zimbabwe - which used to be called Southern Rhodesia when I lived there, was Danish. Eva was her name and she and her husband Ian were great friends of ours. Plus their two lovely Danish/English daughters. I think they went to live in Spain when I last heard from them. .
Go well,

Hello again
I hope you found your way to h2g2's new site
I wish I could go to las Islas Canarias, Lanzarote to be specific, but alas, no money, no time
Not yet, anyway, maybe later. I gather the islands won't vanish in the meantimer
Arriere Grandmere is a nice title. I first came across it when I read and followed a recipe called something like "Lamb casserole the way my arriere grandmere cooked it". It was absolutely fabulous. The French certainly know how to cook! But this is no news to you, of course
Stay well!
