Questions: Do I need a nickname? If so, how do I change my number toa nickname. Where or how do I find other forums? How much do I really say about myself?

You can change your nickname and other details by going to your home page (click on 'my home' on the left if you're not there already), and click on 'My Details' on the left.
You can find other forums at the bottom of every article. If you're feeling like chatting, go to the front H2G2 page, http://www.h2g2.com and look for the 'Five Busiest Forums' list on the right.
You can say as much or as little about yourself as you like. There are no etiquette rules on H2G2... be as sensible or as bizarre as you like, and as erudite or quiet as you like. The best way to get to know others is to look for random forums and talk in them!
