Notice to the confused...

Just a quick note to say I changed the Introduction to a more general appeal for information on Philosophy. The old introduction was the INtroduction to the Philosophy of Ever Reducing Circles of thought, which is down at the bottom! Any Journal entries before the publication date relate to that article! Cheers!

Modules and Life

What's the great link?

Oh yes, next week I have three modules: two politics exams and one business studies exam... I'm really looking forward to it... no, really...
The the week after that I have another American Politics Module. The Big philosophical question right now is: "What has this got to do with what I want to become when I grow up?"
I have no answer. Even my favourite Psychology textbooks and my heavily philosophical 'Music, Magic, Mystery and Metaphysics' book cannot provide a conclusive answer. Of course, everything is linked in some way or other.
Still, if I am to get into a philosophy and/or english degree at Birmingham University then I need to pull off two As and a B. Actually, it's straight Bs for Philosophy, and AAB/ABB for English. Wierd.

I recently engaged a friend of mine in a philosophical conversation via email. She and I are actually friends in the real world, and see each other every day, but we rarely get the chance to hold a good intellectual conversation, so it is beneficial that we both have email.
Maybe I'll enter some of our exchanges as Journal entries on this page, as they have the potential to become interesting. I have finally found someone who understands my ideas and thinks anywhere near similarly to me. What a relief!
Hello Heather! If you visit this site, this is my second life, also the first life is kinda slowing down the second, but that's that. Maybe I'll advance it over the summer, although I'll be working in a restaurant in Wales - a minor detail. I might be able to publish stuff, I might not.
Feel free to respond to anything Heather!

An Introduction to myself...

Hello. Just in case you were wondering, here is a short section on myself:
Name: Alexander Wood
Age:17
Location: Bromsgrove, West Midlands, United Kingdom
Description: I think too much. If I'm not completely occupied by what I'm doing, you can guarantee that the usually unused bit will be taken up thinking about something else. I constantly encounter new ideas to think about, whether rational or not. I thrive on happiness, and I Love to smile and watch the smile spread. I like to look on the positive side of everything, but not ignore the problems. I don't fool myself either, at least, not that I know of, which is the origin of the thought of what I wrote about in the 'Introduction to the Philosophy of Ever Reducing Circles of Thought'.
I'm studying English Literature, Politics and Business Studies at A-Level and I am studying Drama AS-Level. I want to read English Lit and Philosophy or Psychology at University. I can also sing... quite well, according to my Singing Teacher. I am one of the lowest Bass/Baritones in the country apparently.
Everyone is Unique, and nobody is useless. Be Proud of that!

Pondering over my Politics...

Following some recently quite bad results in my politics work, I began to ponder if people respond more or less favourably to work which is laid out differently...
A little test proved this theory to some extent: I recieved a bad mark from my teacher for an essay on the House of Lords Reforms, which I had tried to fit onto as few pages as possible to save my diminishing paper supplies. When asked to redo the work I merely returned the text to a normal size and increased the margins so that the text took up more pages. I returned the same essay but looking twice as long and recieved a mark two grades higher... hmmm...
