:::hanging head in penance:::
Okay...I got a bit carried away. And I misread.
:::peeking up::::
And you deserted the navy for the army!

Oy, aren't you the flatterer!
I never joined any of the forces by the way. When I was drafted I wanted to become a draft resister but my doctor adviced me to send in my medical records instead. It worked: I didn't even have to go to the draft board but was rejected by mailorder!
And later it turned out that I wasn't nearly as sick as the doctor and I presumed. In short: I was fit to join the army of lovers - and here I am!

Who me? I'm just a simple country girl out to make some friends with the boys
And I bet the army of lovers never has a problem with AWOL soldiers

AWOL?
Hey there, stranger!
PostMuse Posted Aug 8, 2000
AWOL= Absent Without Leave....as so often happens when an elisted man finds love and doesn't want to return to his post at the assigned time.

While you are out performing your pirating duties...remember to be a polite pirate...ask before pillaging

Your wish is my command, Mylady. All hands on deck! Batten down the hatches! Split me topgallant sails!
Wait a minute... What if I ask politely - and she says no?
Hey there, stranger!
PostMuse Posted Aug 8, 2000
You know the rule...no means no. However...if you take hold of that sheet, swing across the aft, perform a half-gainer, and surface with a pearl between your teeth...I'm sure she'll say yes

Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Aug 9, 2000
Aye! But I will probably sprain something in the attempt, drown or choke on the pearl...
Hey there, stranger!

Practice positive thinking, mate! And even if you do suffer some mishap, she will probably rush forward to rescue you and take you back to her cozy cottage to nurse you back to health with plenty of tomato soup.

Worth a try. Will the soup come with some decent bread - and wine?
Hey there, stranger!
PostMuse Posted Aug 9, 2000
Decent bread...well if she is *not* American it would...but fair warning...Americans have a tentative-at-best grasp on what is decent bread And wine...but of course!

Well, then, in the words of R. Stewart, I am sailing!
Mind you: One of my old pals would call this "throwing swine before pearls" har-har-har (=harsh pirate-laughter)

I don't wait wearily. I wait impatiently.
I took a class this summer and that kept me pretty busy and I have been working, until last week, when I finished the temp job. So now I am unemployed and looking. I hope not for long.
Since September is the real beginning of the new year, I am making a resolution to keep up more with h2g2. Got to weasel my way into the good graces of some Brits so I have a drinking pal or two if I get to UK next spring.
So...how have you been?
Hey there, stranger!
Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Aug 24, 2000
Fine, thank you. Very fine, indeed. Met a nice girl...
Rest of the time I've been very busy with work, cycling (far too little I'm afraid, this summer has been very disappointing) and communicating with my friends and family on the net. It is great. I am thinking of writing an article on modern communication and "electronical penpals", who take letterwriting to a quite new level.
Ah, so many plans and so little time - and on top of that I am lazy...
