So apparently in Thailand people use shoes to hold their place in line. This has of course sparked massive internet debate about the best way to queue.

There is not, and never has been, and moreover, never should be or, indeed could* be, any replacement for the simple, well-established, and time-tested, protocol of queueing. Whether a standard organised queue (1st 2nd or 3rd order), or the more advanced, free-style queue, the old, tried and tested ways have, remained, for a good reason; they workd, and one's physical presence in the queue, is, and should be, the only assured and acceptible way in which to denote and preserve one's position in teh queue.

I mean. Just think what might happen.
First it starts with teh queues, then what? eh? Its just a small step from queue disfunction to disintigration of the British Empire, distruction of the rule of law, and total civil unrest and disabedience on the streets! Civilisation as we know and understand it would fall as sure as night is day, and all from a simple yet easily avoidible misunderstanding regarding the methodology behind queueing protocol...
