Congratulations, btw.. Your Newtown pubs article is on the first page of a Google search for "Newtown Australia", which is how I got enticed over for a small quick chitchat. I'm looking for a decent, readable road map of Newtown. Wouldn't happen to know any available online, would you?

Well.. I'd like to say because I want to know how far Linthorpe St was from any of those pubs you mentioned, but I'm afraid that was a secondary purpose after the fact.

Im not familiar with Linthorpe St (as opposed to all the pubs ) but if you make it to Sydney i can give you a personal guided tour...

*gasps* I didn't think there -were- any streets in Oz without a pub!!

Those were the days...i believe there are entire suburbs without a pub - obviously not anywhere i could live...

Kewl! When I read your page I was planning on checking the vicinity to that one you said was tucked out of the way, with less tourists... I can see tourists at home.

Who knows, i might even have seen them around...

Well.. I dunno.. He just recently moved there (in the longer scheme of things)... Originally from Fremantle, got work in Sydney, stayed with his Dad on the Harbour til he could get his own place.. Been there maybe... couple of months? Maybe a bit longer.

Looking at the map I see it's an amazingly convenient place for him to be.. close to the train (which he takes to work each day) and, of course, close to the pubs.

Its a good part of the world

Heaps of cheapish restaurants and an interesting mix of people as well.

I'd love to visit, but I'd still rather start around Fremantle and zig-zag my way across the continent/country/island to get there.
