Checked out your pix of Mt. Glorious They look just like the scenery you would see in the eastern Highveld areas of SA - even down to the trees . Here they are plantations! I share your love of the twisties, although I'm more of a tourer in RL (old bike)!

That site isn't mine, but I like it!
What's the riding like over there? It's getting hard to find a nice bit of road around Brisbane that isn't crawling with the boys in blue. Up in Cairns there were some great riding roads - we used to top-speed our bikes on one particular stretch on the inland road to Cooktown, nice straight road with wide clear bits on either side, so you could see the cattle approaching the road...mind you, there were some sandy-coloured ones that were a bit hard to spot!

We have about one boy-in-blue (bibs?) per 5 000 km's of road! This makes for some over the limit riding most times and they still haven't got a penalty points system over here yet
I had a mate from Sydney over here in August last year - he loved it! I arranged two demo BMW's (K1200RS and R1150RT) for us to use and we did some 4000km's of riding about.
The roads are still mostly good, the petrol's affordable and the annual licence fee on my bike is R84 or about AU$21! The road dangers here are potholes (poor maintenance in poor provinces) domestic animals, particularly in tribal areas and minibus-taxi's (found anywhere you go). We tend to ride in groups for moral and strategic support in event of spills, etc. and avoid riding at night (animals and taxi's) - beer drinking time!
Rural areas don't see many motorcycles and you will draw a crowd if you stop for fuel or refreshment. Most people are fascinated by bikes (Is that a Harley?) and few are put off by bikers. Girls love bikers here but I ride solo .
Key: Complain about this post
