Interesting - I'm not familiar with this production, but I can imagine the comic potential from your descriptions of the personalties in the troop! I used to watch am dram at least once a year until the venue where the local troop played was condemned as unsafe - everything was not always rosy behind the scenes, but nowhere near this level!

I learned a lot from this - just a few bits I wasn't clear about.

Sandra Wilkinson is a fictional niece of Dame Diana, or is claiming to be a niece? Ah! Dame Diana appeared as a narrator - excellent!

"two one inseparable elves" - something missing there?

" finally concluding that it is family." - it is a family issue that caused Bella to ask for help?

"the very highest televised comedy" - is 'high' a technical term here?

Great concluding section smiley - ok

If you're in the UK the 6-episode series is currently on the iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000csgq/the-goes-wrong-show-series-1-1-the-spirit-of-christmas but only clips from the Christmas episode are still on there.
'two x one inseperable elves' – something missing there?
Yes – one smiley - elf. Only one of the two inseparable elves make it onto the stage, with the script keeping emphasising how inseparable the two of them are.
I don't know if the STRIKE shows in new-fangled h2g2 so I've reworded that bit.

I *think* the STRIKE works in Pliny. smiley - huh (I'll check the next time it comes up in the Post.)

The comedic potential for actors playing incompetent actors is great. smiley - laugh It reminds me of 'Who Am I This Time?', a play/film starring Christopher Walken and Susan Sarandon.

As far as amateur actors having lines written on props, I've seen it done. A student named Murphy had two whole lines in a college/community theatre performance of the Scottish Play. He tried writing them on his hands, and was caught by the director. Finally, he appeared to remember them, magically...turned out they'd been written in chalk on the wall in the wings...

Thanks for the recaps. smiley - smiley

That's clarified things, thank you smiley - ok

Pliny doesn't display strikethrough or underline, but we have table borders now, so that's the main thing!

I just noticed that table borders aren't showing up in this Entry, though - I hope it is straightforward for you to fix it, <BB< smiley - goodluck

I'm shocked that Pliny can't do a basic thing like underlinesmiley - yikes It also can't cope with centred tables with borders, one or the other it seems...smiley - doh Still the table borders should be showing now.

And the BBC have today confirmed that The Goes Wrong Show will be on over Christmas (along with 'The Vicar of Dibley' despite almost the entire cast except Dawn French being now deadsmiley - erm)

That is weird about the table border turning the centring of the table off smiley - huh The vagaries of Pliny...

That's good about the Goes Wrong Show getting another Christmas Special smiley - biggrin I also see the 1976 Dad's Army Christmas Special will be broadcast on 12 December, so that's a good variety of comedy for winter smiley - ok

Nice summary of the Children in Need sketch smiley - ok. Which guidelines did they have to follow? The curfew at 10pm, or whatever it was, judging by the title, and having to stay 2m apart, too?

I don't want to give too much away but everything that anyone touched was covered in anti-bacterial spray (food included), the violinist was in an isolated germ-proof cage and there was a Covid-monitor who every time someone did any minor infractions against the regulations would come in, rugby tackle the actor involved and carry them off. Even if the infraction was in the script, such as 'Can you smell the vanilla?' 'No... - oh no!' - 'SYMPTOMATIC! SYMPTOMATIC!'

Next week they're doing an adaptation of the Nativity story.

Ah! smiley - laugh

So "while obeying the strict Covid-secure guidelines" - could the 'the' just be taken out, or should it be 'their' instead of 'the'? Probably would have been easier if there were such a thing as '*the* guidelines', so we could have got used to eg one-way systems in supermarkets, rather than routes changing every week, but there we go - keeps us on our toes!
