I've seen Spies in Disguise, but not the others in this period, so this is very informative

Oooer - a bit of a typo in the plot section of Spies in Disguise

That is a shame Spies in Disguise didn't do well at the box office...

Nicely concluded - fascinating how Disney has turned into an even more massive enterprise - to be able to spend $71 billion...

But yes, it was disappointing how 'Spies in Disguise' underperformed at the box office. The only thing I can think of is the old adage that you have to appeal to the mothers, typically who decide which films they are taking their families to which is why certain animated genres in the west such as fantasy and science fiction consistently under-perform. Yet that said 'The Incredibles' spy/superhero films have done spectacularly well.

Who doesn't love Will Smith as James Bond? Yet it didn't do well despite being one of Blue Sky's best films (I'm just now trying to resist the temptation to write '#BlackSpiesMatter')

Ah, yes that adage would make sense - the Incredibles is a very family-oriented superhero genre. Spies in Disguise is perhaps more aimed at the teenage boy market, which is a difficult one, as you say, but it is definitely worth watching for Will Smith as James Bond

Just out of interest, is there any news of what Disney is doing with Blue Sky in 2020?

Blue Sky Studios still exists for the time being. At the end of last year they had a bit of a reshuffle at the top with Disney people moved in to replace half of the old Fox staff in key posts, and they announced that Blue Sky were going to make at least one new film, 'Nimona', however with Lockdown and what not the release date is unlikely to be before 2022 and even then there is speculation now as to if it will be released in cinemas or direct to Disney+.
