I thought I'd let you in on an arcane religious practice....

Okay, it was raining buckets a couple of days ago, and I ended up spending an entire afternoon trying to chase down the origin of this Bible game. I thought you might enjoy reading about it. smiley - winkeye

You've made pre-church meetings sound FUN! Having been brought up by Humanists, I feel I've missed out! smiley - laugh

My one doubt concerns the statement about the 'weaponisation of the Bible' 'This task was left to the late 19th Century.' Wasn't it earlier than that? The Puritans of the 17th century perhaps?

Well, in this context...smiley - laugh

I don't believe Puritans actually threw Bibles at anyone. They did many other horrible things, including naming their kids 'Flee Fornication Johnson'...

Another enjoyable ecclectic entry. smiley - biggrin

I must admit I was expecting actual sword drills ala 'Dad's Army' style - I think the Maritime department of our uni only stopped doing cutlass drill in the 1980s...
