Welcome to Peer Review, and thanks for writing this Entry for us smiley - biggrin

I like how the Entry is concise and informative smiley - ok

Was Shock Theater initially expected to be watched by children, or was it just that the adult audience didn't appreciate its risque humour when it was cancelled?

smiley - ok

It was a combination of things. They were showing public domain films like Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein and the Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price and those weren't considered too scary for a young audience, Dr Creep was still hosting the children's show, and general conservative attitude of management.

I must admit I was wondering how Dr Death was too scary for children when compared to CBBC's 'Horrible Histories' character Grim Reaper, the host of the 'Stupid Deaths' segment, in which he laughs at the genuine ways in which real historical figures have died.

It was mainly the make up that was too scary, but the name didn't fit as well with the new look

I was a big fan of this kind of horror host as a kid. smiley - biggrin There was a guy in a Dracula cape in Memphis. And then, of course, there was the renowned 'Chilly Billy' Cardill, who did the horror show when he wasn't being a weatherman in Pittsburgh. Cardill had the honour of appearing in 'Night of the Living Dead', Pittsburgh's big claim to horror fame. We were proud of him. smiley - smiley

Could you maybe work in a Youtube link such as this one? It will help them visualise the sort of ambiance you get on those shows.

And could you try to quote some of his jokes or describe a between-the-scenes routine for those who haven't seen this sort of show?
