FWR and I got to talking about paranormal phenomena, and which kinds might be real and which probably weren't, and it reminded me that I had wanted for a long time to track down this particular story, which kept turning up on weird websites.

I was perfectly willing to accept the possibility of 'drive-in movie' ghosts - I had a screwball theory involving time slippage and a fata morgana. But then they claimed there was sound involved...this made me suspicious...anyway, here's the report on my online research, which I hope will prove edifying and chuckle-worthy.

Oh, and we ought to get Florida Sailor to work on a Gettysburg ghost entry. smiley - winkeye I suspect he knows more about that battlefield than I do, though I've been there.

Florida Sailor All is well with the world

The only Gettysburg story I can think of was a young girl who died while cooking in her house in town by a stray shot. However I would like to share the Scottish story of Culloden, I have heard stories that even today Englishmen can not stand on the field for even a few minutes without being driven away by the ghosts http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2010/4/16/858046/- might be worth a mention here.

It might be worth a guide entry, if you can find some info on it.

You are correct, I realized that this is worthy of its own Entry almost as soon as I had posted my message. I am sometimes reluctant to post a historical event that I am not directly related to, but I do want to share historical events to keep them alive. My biography of Lord Nelson was one of my favorite Entries. The Rebellion led by Bonnie Prince Charley and his ultimate defeat are certainly worth a bit of effort. Let me see what I can dosmiley - smiley
