Just a point or two

When you mention the 'Modern Doomsday List' you might link A6563298

You might also list a few of the most famous buildings, such as Westminster Palace, Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, and a few others with their status on the list. Any not listed might be most interesting.

This is interesting and informative.smiley - smiley

You might want to mention that there are listed buildings in Scotland and Wales as well - see https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/

Howver, I think you'd be wise to avoid listing too many individual buildings, because you won't know when to stop!

Thanks Tav - my pleasure! smiley - hug

Thanks FS - I added the link, and also added a little more about the criteria so I hope that helps.

I added a footnote about other Lists smiley - ok

I mentioned the Palace of Westminster, as that is in an important category, but as mvp says, The List is too long to go into too much detail about individual buildings. I enjoyed searching h2g2, though, and adding in links to superb Listed Buildings that we have Entries about smiley - ok

A great summary.smiley - ok

At the moment the protection legislation is quite complicated, having grown up piecemeal over time, with different rules related to listed buildings, scheduled monuments, protected wrecks, registered parks and gardens, and battlefields and graded churches (A, B or C), and also different rules applying if the site is within a National Park. There have been frequent calls to update the legislation and have greater clarity combining all the different categories, but that's not considered a priority so when it'll happen is anyone's guess.

I find that very interesting because we don't have a system of categories like that at all here.

Thank you!

Yes, the legislation is rather complicated... It is a positive thing that all the protected structures have now been brought together on the Historic England website - that helps with clarity at least a little bit smiley - ok
