"It doesn't matter what you think you're doing. If the italics are being told that they're stupid or liars, that's an insult. And they haven't done anything to deserve it (prove me wrong - give me some links and examples) so that's abuse"

If it is true, it is not abuse, by definition. Again, get a dictionary. We have already given examples that prove it, it you were capable or reading things correctly you would know that.

"And Mina does have the intelligence to do this."

You don't belive in God do you? You are beliving something despite all the evidence to the contary, a point i usually make to religious people.

"But the editors just can't get into a defamatory argument."

Again, get a dictionary. Defamation is lying about people. I am not lying.

"Not an intelligent argument... it's like a bunch of children!"

You and the italics are arguing like children, i agree. I, on the other hand, am not.

"You're smart enough to know that whining about this won't help the situation Tango"

I am not whining, i am argueing. Once again, get a dictionary. If it doesn't help the situation that is because the italics are too stupid and immature to realise when they are wrong and correct the mistake.

Are you going to argue over semantics? You're being insulting. Admit that at least

>"* You can work within the system and help modify it along the way so that everybody (Researchers and italics alike) can help produce manageable, quality content.

* You can try and subvert a system that doesn't need subverting, dig your heels in and bury your head in the sand."

great options. i am choosing number one, helping to modify a faulty system.

>"Shall I tell you how you can take things off the editors hands? BY STARTING YOUR OWN F*****G WEBSITE!!!"

it appears while me, SEF and Tango have conducted a great argument/discussion bringing in facts and strong arguments and all others have either refused to comment, accused us of insulting them, told us to go somewhere else or complained that we are trying to make a difference. i, personally, am sticking with h2g2 for the community, that did not start or develop with the h2g2 editors, but was created in a non-bbc day by great people. since it moved to the bbc, h2g2 has fought to regain itself and it's freedom. yet, for those of us who are looking further, and wanting a better h2g2, we are attacked and criticised.

i still find it strange how non of our arguments have been satisfied, and natalie pops in just to say 'we said no to the graphic' then pops out again, ignoring the fact that this is about a much bigger issue now.

i think a major problem i have with not having an image blobbed is not just because you editors will not blob a researcher made image, but because you will not allow external images. all House Rules do not stop them, but instead place restrictions on the content. they are like links really, and follow the same guidelines, except they appear on the system. against popular believe there is a way to get them on h2g2, and if they were allowed then i would end my complaints right now. however, you restrict the images to be used, meaning you are forcing us to push for our images to be added.

it is attitudes like this that make us come to the assumption that the editors are single minded and stopping the evolution of h2g2. if you force people to have to take one option, then when they are denyed that option they must push their point. allow people to use external images, then problem solved, and we'll let you italics have a bit of a break from this for a few months.

Making a difference would be contributing - writing entries, sub editing, scouting, aceing, guruing, etc.

You know this is a futile battle. It's not making a difference. It's just making a big veign in my head...

Our images = our copyright. This is just the same as with the text everyone puts on their pages (or in postings) which also must not be someone else's copyright. It's already covered by existing rules and existing moderation scheme. If that weren't the case, the staff wouldn't have had some of their own copyright breaching images removed.

Re: the Terranic Army graphic referred to in post #36; I don't think you would ever get that past the internal censors. When the Zaphodistas tried to have an image of a rifle in a table graphic they were told in no uncertain terms that images of guns were unacceptable on hootoo and any further attempts to display them would be failed by the moderators. If it was submitted through the CA scheme the artist would undoubtedly be asked to redo it without the weaponry. smiley - geek

I am not going to make any detailed posts tonight, i will come back tomorrow and reply to everything properly. However, it appears i have had 4 posts hidden. I thought it was h2g2 policy not to hide posts that were offensive to italics... am i so special that this policy does not apply to me? or has this policy changed? or are the italics using double standards again? I can't think of any other explanations, and none of those explanations seem to put the italics in a good light.

Ah, so you finally admit (or, at the very least, strongly imply) that you were being offensive to Italics, then... smiley - nahnahsmiley - winkeye

"they were told in no uncertain terms that images of guns were unacceptable on hootoo"

That would seem to be another case of double-standards given the number of blobbed graphics containing hand guns and rifles, pre-CA and CA.

True, image standards and guidelines seem to have "evolved" over the years...
