A tale of our times in five acts, a love story (sort of), topical (in some quarters they talk of nothing else). No wizards, goblins or fairies. And all the better for that, some would say.

a girl called Ben

I loved it!

Once upon a time I shared a house with two other IT Contractors and a guy who ran a garage. I was the only woman living in the house, and there were - complications - which I have no intention of going into here, but which I will tell in person at the drop of a hat for a large rum and coke, or three. Let's just say that they involved a proposition or two, but not necesarily of the kind that you are thinking...

Fast forward - or slip sideways in fact - one of the IT Contractors was in a relationship, so much so that he had bought a house for his girlfriend. He is a lovely guy even if... Well. I said I wouldn't tell the story here, and I won't. But the thing which made me think of this guy was that he had met his girlfriend because she was originally his cleaning lady.

You don't by any chance know a guy who is working in Holland and who is also a demon at ironing do you?

Hi BB et Cie, smiley - ok

I think this is a triffic entry, smiley - cheers! It's interesting to see a piece like this that is about a subject that would probably attract few people's attention in a bare, factual format, converted into a fascinating interaction between two characters, so that the reader is intrigued and drawn to find out what lies behind the poor chap's woes.

One detail i particularly liked, setting a stylistic tone that pleased me, was the 'cautiously sniffing at the milk' in one of the first sentences. Just the kind of thing that makes it 'real'. smiley - ok

I had a look at your U-space, BB, and discovered that this was not the first of your entries that i had read! About the future having a certain rosy hue... smiley - biggrin

I think this is on a different level though. This is real creative writing; style and content, character, description, dialogue. It's goddit all! smiley - ok

ta for sharing it in the AWW
