This is great! I must admit it might be worth putting in some kind of hint that it is a spoof, but on the other hand, the dirty underpants ought to be some kind of clue.
It reads a little roughly, though, but that may be because I am used to refinements like GML and of course the no-first-person rule.
But I nominate it for the Underguide. And maybe the Post would like it too.

It's a spoof?!?

Well I'm sorry but this entry breaks a fundamental rule for me - unexplained abbreviations .
I'm standing here, holding up the back wheel of the bike, stuck on intstruction three. What the fourX's is a TDC when it's at home!
I'd nominate it for the Underguide-to-be too.

A little work and this has my nomination too!
Is the author still around?

...ish...
His last post here was a couple of weeks ago, and he may not actually be subscribed to this thread. I have dropped by the previous PR thread and told him to come here and collect his applause in person. Failing that, I guess a real message in his U-Space would be the best.

What the fourX's is a TDC when it's at home!
Top Dead Centre. A positon when the piston is at the top of its stroke and the conection rod is dead centre in relation the crankshaft. Ignition timing in a pterol engine is set a number of degreees BTDC (Before Top Dead Centre) and the exhaust valve open a number of degrees ATDC (After Top Dead Centre). The input valves are set in relation to BDC. No prizes for guessing what BDC means.

Behind Dead Centre...?
Before Dead Centre...?
Below Dead Centre...?
Blonde Drying Cuticles...?
Brunette Doing Cynical...?

OK: I'll be really naughty and go into a convo that he's already contributed to: I remember when I first got a message to my p.s.: I didn't see it for about four weeks

Hey, sit up straight everyone, the authors here!
There isn't actually that much to do AM. The vultures who have descended on this thread are, with the exception of Stuart, (who is a real person and a gent), just making a lot of noise about something which does not yet exist.
There are a number of us who think that there should me more recognition for good entries which are not suitable for the EG, and who think that these entries should be easier to find if you are browsing the site.
This is not a new problem, and it has previously been addressed by The Post, Fiction Central, AGG/GAG/CAC and other places on the guide.
We are hypothesising an Underguide, a sort of parallel guide. You might consider it the EG's more mischievous twin, if you like, but it will include poetry and personal experiences, and I doubt that it will be entirely upbeat.
We are practicing selecting entries, in order to gain a consesus amongst ourselves about what constitutes a good entry, and in order to create a pool of entries to draw on.
In the short term, you can do as much or as little as you like. I do suggest you offer this to the Post if you haven't already. You may like to follow up on the suggestions of my fellow lunatics. And my guess is that if the UG ever makes it into daylight you entry will end up picked for it.
If you want more info on the UG then the best place to start is http://groups.msn.com/TheH2G2Underguide which is offsite, but has the list of links of relavent conversations and pages.
It is good to know you are still around. So many authors have done an Elvis and left the building. How is frying burgers at Burger King?

AM hasn't posted in almost a year, so I think we can classify him as an Elvis. I liked it, being of a technical bent every now and again this entry popped my pretentious little bubble, as it were. With just a touch of polishing this could end up in the UG, or lacking that, the CACC (without polishing).

UnderGuide Editors Posted Jun 30, 2004
Congratulations! Your piece has been picked from the Alternative Writing Workshop (AWW) by our miners and has been accepted by the editors for inclusion in the h2g2 UnderGuide! It will be featured on h2g2's front page in due course* and then be displayed on the shelves of the UnderGuide Archives at A2112490 and the official archives at C1233.
More information and a link to what happens next can be found at the <./>underguide</.> HQ. A helpful friendly Gem Polisher will be dropping by your personal space soon to talk to you about the next stage of the process.
Thank you for contributing to the UnderGuide!
