I thought we could use an entry on 'Man of La Mancha', one of my personal favourites.

There's a line in here about Peter O'Toole's voice being dubbed in the movie. I started to add 'mercifully' (Have you heard his singing? I have one word: Carrickfergus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF0qr4q0mnM ), but pursuant to the discussion between me, Sasha, and Bluebottle about the uses of 'sadly' and 'tragically', I refrained. I want credit for this restraint...

Anyway, now I will go around the house singing, 'and the wild winds of fortune shall carry me onward, whithersoever they blow...' until the cats complain about it. smiley - run

smiley - dragon

Done. smiley - smiley There's even a full-length version, and a clip of the original cast on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1966.

I remember them appearing on another variety programme about the same time. As a teenager, I was blown away by Kiley's instant transformation from Cervantes to Don Quixote. I went to the library and found the libretto the next day, and bought the soundtrack album.

Thanks, Tav - and for the laugh! My dad was like that - couldn't learn to play a jaw harp, but he loved to sing along, anyway. smiley - winkeye
