Well done an interesting entry, and an interesting subject, the attitudes then seemed better then than now, more a celebrity than a freak.
And very enjoyable thanks. smiley - cheerssmiley - applause

This is interesting and well written.smiley - smiley

I suppose at that time there might have been more people around with physical peculiarities and deformities, because there was little that could be done.

Thanks both smiley - biggrin

Yes, it does seem in modern times that the advent of an industry around 'fixing' people who are different did contribute to stigma about difference... A lot of people before then were viewed as 'freaks', but being different did potentially empower them with fame and fortune, too - it is good that the Childe of Hale in particular was looked after and well thought of by his village smiley - ok Shame about the loss of the money, though, indeed smiley - sadface Always the way that there are untrustworthy people who will take advantage of trusting people...

A pleasure for me to be able to write up his story for h2g2 smiley - biggrin

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
