Entry: Zombies - FAQs - A88063301
Author: Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor - U128652
We don't have an EGE on Zombies, which I discovered recently. An oversight I have now rectified by rescuing this by Researcher Typhin, A3139175 although not in the Flea market, it's worthy of rescue. I have corrected a few things and embellished from my own knowledge. I have tried to leave in the original sense of humour and added a few observations, recommendations, of my own.
Enjoy!

Good entry! There's a Zombie paintballing company that has venues on the Isle of Wight and mainland that I often see a 4x4 vehicle advertising, including earlier today. That might make an illustration if nothing else is suggested (obviously anything by Freewayriding would be better!)
One thing I did wonder 'undoubtedly the greatest music video of all time.' - Definitely an iconic music video, not sure I would go so far as to say 'undoubtedly the greatest'. MTV's definition of 'music video' includes films like 'A Hard Day's Night'.

Hi BB, thanks for reading and commentating. I would love a photo of that Zombie van to adorn this entry, thanks!
Regarding "Thriller" - it is the only music video preserved in the Library of Congress. Time Out has a list of the 13 absolute best music videos of all time with Thriller at number one, which unfortunately The Beatles aren't featured in. I will tweak the wording in the entry

I have notified the Post's zombie correspondent of this entry. Hopefully he will be along as soon as he finds his Segway. (We DO have an image of a zombie on a Segway in case you're interested.)
Do you think you could work in a link to the US Centers for Disease Control's available publication on "Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic"?

Hi Dmitri, thanks for reading
I have added that link to the introduction
A zombie on a Segway, hmm, tempted, but I have already asked the hostess with the mostest for her infamous Zombie pic she created the look one Halloween about ten years ago. I have not recovered properly, it's something a mother should never see, but her friends loved it, it really should come with a health warning so I am not sure if it could adorn this entry. I will put the photo up at Trello. If it's not suitable then I will happily go with a merging of your zombie on a Segway overtaking BB's zombie paintballing van

Hmmmm. Apart from the obviously disrespectful Z word (We prefer Persons of Non-Living Status nowadays) and the dreadful *Thriller* promoting, there could be mention of more modern movies/TV shows (seem to stop at 2013?)
Lots more music stuff out there too!
I may be missing something but where did the GM crop thingy come from?
Denmark's zombie mink may be an interesting link.
Then there's the very long history of PoNS.
Lazarus, for example still gives his name to the very real Lazarus Syndrome, reanimation after clinical death.
So, lots to think about, I'll charge the Segway and alert Henry Letterbox!

Hi FWR
I rescued this by Researcher Typhin, A3139175 although I am not a zombie fan so don't watch the genre. I will happily add more modern stuff as advised, but I already have added "The Last of Us" which we are being bombarded with adverts for atm.
>>where did the GM crop thingy come from?<< Typhin. Does it need removing? Maybe it was an attempt at a joke that I missed...
>>Then there's the very long history of PoNS.<< Whoosh! Flew over my head that onenever heard of it, don't know what it is. I will happily add info as suggested, and contributors.
Lazarus Syndrome, reanimation after clinical death & Denmark's zombie mink - will add

Just read the actual title of this! Again, my apologies, been away for too long.
I suppose as a light-hearted FAQ entry, it's fine, if it was an actual Entry on Zombies, then it's way too shallow.

No worries FWR! I am happy to add stuff. The Danish mink I have just researched and now feel quite ill but they didn't really rise from the dead did they, they just were failed to be disposed of correctly. I remember the story now, about the culling of the mink during the Covid-19 outbreak, but zombie mink, wasn't that just a term headline writers used to garner sales?

Just researched Lazarus Syndrome, reanimation after clinical death - not sure I would call a person who revived after clinical death would be called a zombie - more like a miracle!
I remember a scene in the original Poldark series where Judd had been pronounced dead and his body was covered with a sheet, the rest of the village went along to the wake and consumed everything his widow Prudie had bought with the pot of money she'd found going through his things () and then after they all got drunk and well-fed, all snoozing, when Judd walked in, he had only been in a drunken stupor - they all ran away screaming

Zombie s are a thing when they contract a fungal infection, so is that where the link to GM crops comes from...? Otherwise I'm not sure if crops is usually associated with zombies? Unnatural scientific experimentation pushing the boundaries of what mankind was meant to know, yep. (28 Days Later, Marvel's Zombies etc) But not specifically crops.

Whether it is by supernatural or scientific means, they've been around in our collective consciousness for a very long time.
I think the GM link may be to do with mice being adversely affected? Looks like a tin foil
hat moment...Dame as believing Thriller was a good song/video!!

I have toned down the Thriller
already
I found a Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island title - was it suitable for small children, BB, or was it really scary? I mean, they were REAL zombies according to the blurb, not people in disguise! (yoiks!)

I don't think you've mentioned:
iZombie, a US supernatural procedural crime drama television series.
I mention this because it is to date the ONLY zombie-related entertainment I have actually liked. We've watched the whole series TWICE. Spelling is 'iZombie'.
I used to like vampire stuff until the vampires all turned into horny teenagers.
Glad FWR found you - he's the zombie movie expert. Do you think you could run this around April Fool's Day? It's a sort of joke entry.
I grew up in the Pittsburgh area, which is where the modern zombie was invented by George Romero, who took this up after filming Mister Rogers' tonsillectomy for public television. We had trouble taking the genre seriously once we recognised our weatherman in 'Night of the Living Dead'.

@ the local weatherman
Yes I can bookmark this for 1st April
Added iZombie for you maybe I will look out for that - I haven't found any zombies things I like so far
we are currently watching Detectorists from series one, it's slow going but very funny in parts. Their entire metal detecting club membership we can match with our local astronomy club members
(there aren't any zombies in it, thank goodness)

You'd like it, I think. There's a gimmick: the medical examiner zombie temporarily takes on the personalities of the murder victims whose brains she eats. It's witty and fun.

I love the Detectorists too.
There are soooo many TV shows and movies out there that have an non-living slant. Santa Clarita Diet is a funny watch. American Gods has a very reluctant zombie, and of course TWD franchise, the only zombie franchise in which they never use the Z word!
