Thank you - I saw the report on the BBC News, so this Entry will be an asset to the Edited Guide. Shocking John Wayne quote. Powerful quotes from the apology and from Sacheen Littlefeather's speech.

A couple of minor points - I don't think the square brackets are needed in the quote from the apology, as the two paragraphs are consecutive. The square brackets around [apology] don't look to be needed either.

I agree with Sasha's sentiments, a well-written entry that definitely deserves its place in the guide.

I did wonder whether you might include a bit more about David Rubin? Firstly you may consider emphasising that having been born in the mid 1950s, he was still at school at the time of the speech and not involved in its reception. Also that as the first openly gay president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences he has probably encountered prejudice also. This act was also one of his last in the position, as his term ended and he has stepped down.

Thanks Sasha & BB, I did notice that David Rubin was billed as the "ex-"president but when I read the letter online it said he was the president so I wrote it as so. It doesn't really matter that he's stepped down now, but I will footnote thatsmiley - ok. I doubt it was his sole decision, although I get that he has probably suffered prejudice himself.

I did want to write up more about Wounded Knee and what was going on at the time because I do remember the incident at the Oscars (live tv, and my parents were watching), but I had no idea about the slaughter at Wounded Knee. But I decided it was worthy of an entry of its own so I have added it to my list, and I'll link to it when written.

We keep seeing trailers for the new Predator film "Prey" featuring Native American people "now streaming on Disney+". Has anyone seen it? I have been wondering about the portrayal of Native Americans and whether it is respectful or not.

I did some reading and it seems the Comanche people are happy with their portrayal in that film.

Here's an article about the Comanche-language version of the film:

Thanks for tweaking smiley - ok

Just reading this again, the last paragraph looks to be out of date already - can you rephrase a bit to make this an even stronger record of the momentous events for future reference?
