Last week Bernard Cribbins died

Following this I listened to my copy of his 'Greatest Hits' album , which included most of the songs from this film, leading me to want to re-watch it. (Sorry Danny Kaye, Bernard Cribbins sang 'em better).

I must admit I often get confused between the 4 different film companies with 'Goldwyn' in the title - wanted to try and briefly explain that but it seemed too big to be a .

I didn't realise Bernard Cribbins had sung the songs from this film as well - a man of many talents indeed

A few sentences to check:

"Peter takes arranges for the theatre to released Hans from prison..." - it sounded like Peter was smitten with Doro, but it was actually Hans.

The Grammy Award and Pulitzer nomination were for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying only, or Guys and Dolls as well?

Not holding a brief for Danny Kaye as such, but I've recently read his biography. A difficult and complex human being.

My Yiddish professor in Pittsburgh said, 'Danny Kaye went to my school in Brooklyn before he got kicked out.'

Class: 'Why did he get kicked out, Dr S?'

Dr S: 'You know that stuff he does in the movies?'

Class: 'Yes.'

Dr S: 'He did that in class.'

Anyway, could you please consider altering your 'not to be confused with' joke footnote to contain the information that Danny Kaye's birth name was David Daniel Kaminsky?

Danny Kaye was major box office at the time. I agree with your assessment of the film, which is dreary and awful. The Danes were not thrilled, and I do not blame them one bit. Hollywood musicals, bah.

I like the 'Inchworm' song, though as a kid I thought it said 'measuring the miracles.'

PS I love the background about Howard Hughes and the ballet company!
