Over Christmas I was mysteriously deleted from the h2g2 system and when I tried to post anything I was told to re-register. However, when I tried to re-register they would not accept my original details.
Has anyone else had this problem, or is someone trying to tell me something?

I have tried a few times where it didn´t recognise me. But I could either log in, or try some time later where it usually did recognise me again. I don´t know why these things happened.

Is/Was this you? : http://www.h2g2.com/U142527
If not, go to the search page and do a people search for "slug" and you should be able to find your original person. Then send an email to [email protected] with these facts in it and they should be able to get you set back up again.

There have been a few occasions when I've found myself unrecognised here. Sometimes I've been asked to reregister. Sometimes I've been recognised but all the stuff has gone from my page and I'm back to being researcher number ######. It's a bit disconcerting.

What I have found over the last year or so (gosh - really that long?) is that when it syas "Greetings unknown researcher" then the page has gone wrong on my end and refreshing it (Press F5 in Explorer) cures this, but when it says "Welcome to the home page of researcher 97642" something has gone wrong at the server end and I just have to log off until it gets fixed.

Good advice Duncan. Patience is a virtue at h2g2. I wish it was one of my virtues. Still, it's my favourite site and it's free. If it didn't slow down so much and refuse to let me in at all, so often, I doubt I'd venture out onto the rest of the net very much. It feels like a sort of virtual home to me - and I bet quite a lot of other people feel that way about it too. Am I sad, or what?

I already e-mailed h2g2 as you suggested, but received no reply. Having been refused entry many times, I tried to re-register several times, but was not allowed to do that either. The only way I could re-register was to do so under a different e-mail address, but th4e accepted the same nickname.

It also causes mysterious typing errors as well....

"I already e-mailed h2g2 as you suggested, but received no reply."
We can't find an email from you - which email address did you send it to?
Anyway, if you let me know which is your original identity, then I can fix things for you in a jiffy. But I need to know whether Duncan above has found the right one!
Thanks.
Mark

I e-mailed h2g2 on '[email protected]' , which is the address you send your "welcome to h2g2" e-mails from.
Yes, Duncan has found my original identity (U142527). Perhaps you can discover what happened to me. Thanks.

I've mailed both your h2g2 email addresses with details of your passwords.
There's nothing wrong with either account, so try logging in with the details I sent you.
As for [email protected], that's where all the bounces for bad registration emails end up. I'll suggest that we change the reply-to address to something more sensible - sorry for the confusion.
