2Legs, omelets are heated in oil, so it would be redundant to add fried foods that have already been heated in oil. Save on the cost of oil, and just put the unfried ingredients into the omelet.

I think I'd kinda drifted away from the origional omelette idea, to just a plain, simple fried b breakfast dream... Even so, though, with an omelette, you'd need to cook the meat bits, more, first to ensure they were cooked... but they could just be fried in the pan.... then when cooked enough, the eggs and other bits thrown in damnit... I can't justify a second supper now... so close to the first one

That's fine. I would do it that way, too. Which reminds me that I'm running low on eggs.

I had lots of eggs. well 6. Until, in fact I made scrambled eggs for lunch/brunch.... since which time I only appear to have three left... only hen eggs this time, maybe due to buy duck eggs later in the week, for a change
My quiche is famous. well, in as far as I cooked it for William.... whole box of duck eggs.... several hundred mililitres double cream..... most of a 400 G block of cheddar and homemade pastry diced gammon ham Normally I can pack away an aweful lot of quiche myself, in very short time... it was so rich, it lasted us for several meals oo... not made quiche in ages

Most quiche recipes I've seen have also contained sauteed onions.

I prefer an enormous mass of fresh spinach greens for a main body of substance in a quiche, myself.
I like onions in a lot of recipes, but they're incompatible with a creamy milk base since they will curdle the milk, whether its quiche or potato soup.
Have you ever tried kiwi fruit as an alternative to tomato?

Spinach would be wonderful, I agree. or broccoli. I have some luxurious-looking Swiss chard in my garden, which I plan to pick for lunch today. The green beans are also big enough to use now .

A little picking, next item up, last of the red cabbage, first of the red okra.
Prime planting season for this area still almost a month away, beginning in the latter half of August.
The local season for most leaf and root vegetables.

You may not have flown before, but I'm sure you've been in large train stations. Well, you know how they are noisy, and annoying, and everybody gets in your way, and trips you up with their luggage? Well, an airport is a bit like a large train station where everyone assumes you are a terrorist. What's not to like?"

I saw a few potentially quotable things in that thread... but it seemed a bit self-referential to mention them, as it was my journal - I still think airports are a thing of beauty; the epitamy and most indicitive of modern society, a methorical construct of all human life, made solid in arcetectural form The epitamy of human endevor and progress, against the natural order of the universe, representative of man-kinds struggle against the elements and forces outside of the human psyche... The pinacle of human achievement mastifully and sublimely amalgamated into a single, focus point of human activity exploration and development; marking the achievements of thousands apon thousands of human generations, set in a constuct of stone, concrete and metal; A true epitamy of progress though the eons of time. But, I haven't been to one yet... opinions may change damnit. I'm far too whimsical this early in the morning... need more coffee

Another quote, this recalled from earlier, better days:
Ms Stress once commented:
"Life for the sake of life is not enough"

Some philosophers would argue that, even life may seem pointless, having as much of it as possible is a good thing. I picked this up in a book about attitudes toward suicide over the ages. Existentialists seem to think having a long life is a good thing in and of itself. Of course, as with any generalization there will be individual exceptions.

Some philosophers may - but I'll bet they were in fair health When they argued that.

You may be right, Rod. You may be right.
Some philosophers were *not*I n good health, but I don't know what their position was on longevity. Nietzsche, for instance, had terrible health problems, but I know very little about his philosophies. I learned to spell his name correctly, but that's about it.
