I echo that about Jack Taylor. I remember that World Cup Final, and the nerve the referee showed in awarding those penalties.

Is 'Maeve' pronounced as it looks? I never know with Irish names. If I attempt them I inevitably end up embarrassing myself.

What it 'looks' to you may not be how it looks to me - so you've got me all intrigued now...
Does it look like 'May-v' to you
or 'Meevee'
or 'Meeve'
?

It looks like it rhymes with 'wave', although I'd understand if it rhymed with 'dive'. Not 'sleeve', though.
I'm more worried about the consonants. Irish seems to have a bit of a free for all when it comes to 'b's, 'v's and 'm's, especially if there's an 'h' nearby. If I see a 'g' I hide behind a cushion until it goes away.

Maeve (rhymes with "wave") is how it was pronounced on the BBC News this morning.

I am relieved I have been pronouncing it correctly all this time - at least in my head, I don't think I've ever actually had a conversation about her before!

RIP Winnie, I hope you're enjoying a cuddle with your boy Keith now.
Such a sad story, her life must have been a living hell
My thoughts on Ian Brady would not survive the filter, so I won't bother
